Wordless Wednesday: The Makings of.

Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday Challenge No.64

This part of Colleen Chesebro, the Fairy Whisperer’s Tuesday Tanka. I have long wanted to try a Haibun so I have written one below, it includes a Tanka so I think that is within the rules.

Not having tried this disapline before I hope it’s not too far from the bar. It is infact for me a New Experience.

The words we have to use synonyms for are Experience and New. I have used the synonyms for the words in the Tanka, felt for experience and morn and another dawn for new.

 Flight From Fear

I sit here in the silence, even the traffic has not started it’s heavy thundering.

Lonely, not from the lack of company  more from emptiness inside. Strange how it gnaws at me, a real pain.

The room is silent and clam not even the ticking of a clock. Quietly the dog moves in her sleep.

I see no tree lights

Lost here in the chill of morn

In flight from night frights.

I have have felt all this before

This is just another dawn.

Merry Christmas to you all

I  wish  all my  lovely  friends  and  followers  here  on  wordpress a  very  happy Christmas   may  you  all be  blessed  with  a  happy  time.

Yule  tide  is  upon  us  and  today  is  it’s  eve. My  life is  is  still in  flux  and  try  as  I  may  I  cannot  seem  to  cope  with  things. I  am  doing  my  best  to  read  your  blogs  but I   am  still struggling  to  keep  up  with  posting  myself. I  am  getting  there  slowly though…. Hope  for  me  yet !  Below  is  a  little  Christmas   poem  and  some  Christmas  music.

Thanks  for  all your  patience  I  love  you  all!

Black, black  the  sky,  cold the  winds  blow

Across  the  sand  by  the  light  of  the  stars progress was  slow.

She  was  slight  but with  child. Tired  and  near  her  time.

They  had  had  to travel  though,   the  census to  sign.

They arrive late after many  days  travel and  there  was no place  to stay.

She was  too tired  to  chide  her  man for his  incompetence

Her time  was near,  she  urged him  to  find  a place  she could lay.

He found  a  stable bare and  full of   the  animal’s  stench.

He  did his  best  to  make  her  comfortable  as  she  began  her  labor

She  was  so young  and  a virgin  she  knew  not  what  was happening

Finally  a  child  was  born  as  promised a  boy to  the  world a savior.

From outside  came  a gentle  light  and  the  sound of  singing.

People  came from far  and  wide, rich  and  poor bringing  gifts

No one  knew  why  they  came  but  come  they  did

All  saw  the  beauty  of  the  family and  felt  their  sorrow lift.

Colleen’s #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge #63 – Cover & Precipitation (#SynonymsOnly)

I cover my head

As rain falls all around me

My heart is breaking.

Veiled I am in hopelessness

Life sprinkles trial after trial.

Homeless at Christmas

I  originally wrote  this in  December  2013  but it is  still relevant  so. Have revamped it a little.

I hope it won’t snow this Christmas

It’s one of my biggest fears.

It was so bitter last year even

Thinking of it makes me shed tear.

The homless won’t be eating Turkey with all the trim

Unless they find a charity shelter which they can get in.

The people at the shelters are angels from up above

They give their time and plenty love.

They really are saviours they really do so much good.

They give warmth and comfort, dinner and even  Christmas pud.

OH! why are they out here I hear you say.

There are lots of reasons, have you got all day?

Dave got made redundant the bills he couldn’t pay

So the bank stepped in and took his home away.

His wife could not stand the B&B that the social offered them

So she took the children off to live with her mum so Dave won’t see them again.

Jen, she was cheeky girl always having fun

Staying out late and playing up in the end it got too much for her mum!

After a big row one night  in the summer she asked Jen to go,

So she is struggling alone out there, when your homeless it is amazing how fast your friends all go.

Rob well his story is very sad,

It all started with his drinking then he discovered drugs. He became violent and everything turned bad.

He fell out with his mother’s boyfriend who told him he had to go

And then threw him out into the December  snow.

The reasons are legion you can take your pick,

People  who  loose  their jobs  because  they became  sick

From parents who can’t cope

To addictions that make you loose all hope,

Parents or family who beat you, family who will not stop at a touch

They want you to give them way too much.

This may all seem morbid this may all seem too sad

I hate to tell you all, things can be so very, very bad.

People young and old see their hopes and dreams unfold and vanish in clouds of smoke

As they end up on the streets lost and without any hope.

So enjoy your Christmas parties, your families and your Yule tide fare

But as you raise a toast remember the homeless ones out there .

This week Ronovanwrites has set us the two words Slow and Burn.

This pain that I feel

Depression  hidden but real

It is a slow burn.

Childlike eyes delight

The train pulls to a slow  stop

Christmas spirit burns.
