This is day 13 of Jane Dougherty of Jane Dougherty Writes alternative to NanoWritMo, A Month with Yeats.
Away, come away,
Empty your heart of it’s mortal dream..W.B Yeats.
The maiden watched in awe
As beauty passed her by
The outward facade was all she saw
The sight of wonder made her sigh.
Three horses all bedecked in gold
The first damsel a unicorn rode
An escorts of tiny birds, enchanting to behold.
So beautiful the magic did unfold.
The maiden unknowing of their fate
Begged to join them on their ride
A hunger for escape she could not sate.
The anguish in their eyes they could not hide.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All that glitters is not gold
Though the were wonderous to behold.
They could neither rest nor eat
On their quest they had to keep.
The maiden who wished to escape
Only saw the fine procession
Not see their pain, their riches fake.
She was luckier than them.
