A month with Yeats . Day 3

I am sorry this is so late. I have had no time to blog today  but I had to do the challenge so a short entry tonight 💝

Jane Dougherty had changed our Challenge title from November Yeats Challenge to the above.  We even have a photo from   Paul Militaru’s photography blog today as well.

“With all their ancient faces like rain-beaten stones,”—W.B. Yeats.

        Dead eyes

I filled my pockets with stones

Old wise stones with memory

They watched me with dead eyes honed

Knowing they alone could set me free.

Cold dead fish eyes watch me sleep

They saw my decent into the deep

Weighted down by stones, they keep

My secret, my silent final leap.

We slipped gently into the depths with you. It took me a moment or two to realise it.

Seriously, I wondered if this was actual Yeats. Maybe “decent into the deep” is an anti-Freudian slip?

Did you really think it was Yeats, I shall that as a compliment though I doubt I could ever reach his heights! As for “decent” instead of descent… Either a Freudian slip or sloppy spelling, you decide 😀 Happy New Year 💜
