November Yeats Challenge : Day 2

Day two of the second day of the alternative NanoWritMo.

Today’s Quote

“… the dark folk who live in souls

Of passionate men, like bats in the dead trees;” —W.B. Yeats
Rules and Pingback are at Jane Dougherty Writes.

The darkness will out

It is there  gnawing at your soul

Taking all your thoughts,

Consuming you,burning you whole

Pushing you on, counting pluses and noughts.
The darkness lies within

Yet it bursts forth  when let your guard down.

Making you ruthless making you sin

Like a stone holding you down as you drown.
The darkness inside you shows

The opposite to a Midas touch

Out of you like bile it flows

You use it and need it as your crutch.

All around you dead and dying

Now use for you to be denying

The darkness has sent the evil flying

All lost, your fault no point in crying

Nice construction. I like the switch to rhyme in the last verse.

“You use it and need it as your crutch.” – and then we blame others.

Sensing it is our fault is like a stone holding us down.
