Today not long after her Birth we visited the Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carrier . She, all ships are referred to as she, was in her Berth at Portsmouth Naval Docks.
She is huge!
Here she is in the same photo as Admiral Nelson’s ship Victory.
A hazy view of here across the water to the right of the Spinnaker taken from Porchester Castle.
Why are ships called she?
Sailors like to think of their boats as female. They, the ships, take care of thrm and they, the sailors do work for them. Women sailors, seem to like the idea of their vessels as female.
