Song Lyric Sunday: Gambling.

This week Helen Vahdati has set the prompt theme for Song Lyric Sunday as a song about  gambling.

Rules and Pingback Here
Now as I have told Helen I loathe and detest everything to do with gambling and gaming. I have seen and suffered the consequences of a gambling addiction first hand. Neither my husband or I have ever gambled but our lives have been deeply touched my it.

Anyway enough, this a weekly prompt and I shall treat it as such. I have picked two songs. The first one is about a gamble, the type you cannot avoid , like taking a chance, on meeting someone, taking a job or just getting up in the morning.

The Beatles… If I fell in  love with you.

Lyrics for both songs from A to Z Lyrics.

“If I Fell”

If I fell in love with you
Would you promise to be true
And help me understand
Cos I’ve been in love before
And I found that love was more
Than just holding hands

If I give my heart to you
I must be sure
From the very start
That you would love me more than her

If I trust in you oh please
Don’t run and hide
If I love you too oh please
Don’t hurt my pride like her
Cos I couldn’t stand the pain
And I would be sad if our new love was in vain

So I hope you see that I
Would love to love you
And that she will cry
When she learns we are two
Cos I couldn’t stand the pain
And I would be sad if our new love was in vain

So I hope you see that I
Would love to love you
And that she will cry
When she learns we are two
If I fell in love with you

The second song is by Lady GaGa and is an obvious gambling song. I have to admit I love the video!

“Poker Face”

Mum mum mum mah
Mum mum mum mah
Mum mum mum mah
Mum mum mum mah
Mum mum mum mah

I wanna hold ’em like they do in Texas, please
Fold ’em, let ’em, hit me, raise it, baby, stay with me (I love it)
Love game intuition play the cards with Spades to start
And after he’s been hooked I’ll play the one that’s on his heart

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh-e-oh-oh-oh
I’ll get him hot, show him what I’ve got
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh-e-oh-oh-oh,
I’ll get him hot, show him what I’ve got

[Chorus:]
Can’t read my,
Can’t read my
No he can’t read my poker face
(she’s got me like nobody)
Can’t read my
Can’t read my
No he can’t read my poker face
(she’s got me like nobody)

P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)

I wanna roll with him a hard pair we will be
A little gambling is fun when you’re with me (I love it)
Russian Roulette is not the same without a gun
And baby when it’s love if it’s not rough it isn’t fun, fun

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh-e-oh-oh-oh
I’ll get him hot, show him what I’ve got
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh-e-oh-oh-oh,
I’ll get him hot, show him what I’ve got

[Chorus]

P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
(Mum mum mum mah)
(Mum mum mum mah)

I won’t tell you that I love you
Kiss or hug you
Cause I’m bluffin’ with my muffin
I’m not lying, I’m just stunnin’ with my love-glue-gunning
Just like a chick in the casino
Take your bank before I pay you out
I promise this, promise this
Check this hand cause I’m marvelous

[Chorus 3x]

[3x]
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)

Two fantastic choices there Sis. I love the Beatles and although Lady GaGa is a bit ‘out there’ for me I do like one or two of hers and this is my favourite! ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh I used to love that Beatles song. Now it isn’t really one of my favorites but I was only 12 when it came out. I grew up in Reno Nevada and was married to a man with gambling problems so I hate it too!
