I know what you mean, Willow. I am always feeling like I’m heading backwards at a rate of note. Constantly misplacing my to-do list does help a lot until it turns up again,
I’ve had the flu for a couple of weeks and have stopped this weekend. It came to a point where I had to stop and the rest of the family had to step up. MY husband well and truly stepped up and cooked a fantastic dinner tonight with stir-fry beef, leeks, brussel sprouts, balsamic vinegar. He’s also been watching Masterchef and it’s been sinking in.
Hope you get more of a breather soon.
    xx Rowena

Pressed send by accident meant good on your husband is he aquatinted with hoover and the iron. My problems are, forgetting tablets, pressures and demands from family , and looking after friends with problems….. My own fault and now I am falling apart!!

My cough is requiring me to take my asthma meds at the moment. I get domestic assistance at home so he doesnโ€™t need to Hoover, unless itโ€™s removing dog hair from the lounge room carpet with his shoes.
It is difficult to juggle having your own space and being part of a family and community. I did a course on boundaries awhile back and still havenโ€™t taken it all in. I donโ€™t have a huge problem with people outside the family having demands. They tend to go inward and I sometimes am chasing them and trying to draw them out. My daughter has a very fast brain which also means her demands from me have no end. Or, they would if I didnโ€™t put my foot down and it has to be a foot down manoevre. I donโ€™t know how you pull back from these people in such a way that they donโ€™t feel let down.
I think itโ€™s also a matter of picking up on some of these people upfront and if youโ€™re a capacity, just keep them at armโ€™s length.
People do take there lives and others donโ€™t but suffer terribly and thatโ€™s always on my mind with people. I have quite a broad social circle, even though my health limits my circulation for periods of time. There does come a time when people need professional help. That way you can still be their friend, but youโ€™re not carrying the load. Thereโ€™s also a huge difference between listening to someoneโ€™s issues or letting them vent, to them wanting you to solve their problems. Perhaps, if you turn questions and expectations along those lines back onto them and get them to start making their own decisions, youโ€™ll free yourself up. This would end up as boundary along the lines: โ€œIโ€™m happy to listen and be there with you. Be a friend. But you need to make your own decisions. I canโ€™t do this for you.โ€ Then, you could be re-affirming as they do that.
Iโ€™ve had a fair amount of counselling over the years and thatโ€™s what they do. They empower the person to drive their own life, which for so many of us is a pretty scary prospect.
I hope that helps. I really had to put some thought into that and feel Iโ€™ve learned something too.
Iโ€™ll be thinking of you, Willow.
        Best wishes,
        Rowena
