Song Lyric Sunday: Black Eyes Blue Tears.

This week Helen Vahdati has decided that the theme for this week’s Song Lyric Sunday is to be colours.

Rules and Pingback Here

Well I have picked a song that has a strong message that is close to my heart. It also has two colours in it. Black and Blue.

The song is by Shania Twain and it is called Black eyes Blue Tears.  At the beginning of the video Shania introduces the song as one about battered, wives, girlfriends, partners and the like. This is a subject close to my heart. Before we go any further I would like to remind you that there are more ways to batter a partner than with your fists but this song tells it how it is whether the battering is done with the fists or words !

Lyrics by A to Z lyrics
Black Eyes, Blue Tears”

Black eyes, I don’t need ’em
Blue tears, gimme freedom
Positively never goin’ back
I won’t live where things are so out of whack
No more rollin’ with the punches
No more usin’ or abusin’

I’d rather die standing
Than live on my knees
Begging please-no more

Black eyes-I don’t need ’em
Blue tears-gimme freedom
Black eyes-all behind me
Blue tears’ll never find me now

Definitley found my self esteem
Finally-I’m forever free to dream
No more cryin’ in the corner
No excuses-no more bruises

I’d rather die standing
Than live on my knees
Begging please-no more

Black eyes-I don’t need ’em
Blue tears-gimme freedom
Black eyes-all behind me
Blue tears’ll never find me now

I’d rather die standing
Than live on my knees, begging please…

Black eyes-I don’t need ’em
Blue tears-gimme freedom
Black eyes-all behind me
Blue tears’ll never find me now

It’s all behind me, they’ll never find me now

Find your self-esteem and be forever free to dream

“He’s Coughing Up Blood… What Do I Do?!”

An excellent account of how to handle an accident scene.

Nevertheless...

Early morning sunlight blinded me for a moment.

“Oh God,” I sighed at the general direction of the sun as I lifted my hand to shield my face instinctively before pulling my visor down in front of my windshield.

I yawned and started to consider whether my coffee was yet cool enough when I realised there was an obstruction in the middle of the road coming up in front of me.

What is that... I squinted at the large rectangular metallic object for a few seconds as I drew nearer, until I suddenly realised there was also a much closer obstruction in my lane.

Legs! As I hit my brakes, it all processed through my brain in rapid succession. That was a man laying halfway in the road, halfway in someone’s yard. That big metal object was one of those huge motorcycles. Clearly an accident had occurred in these…

Actual Conversations With My Husband

You guys, we just got the most hilarious letter from my crazy, passive-aggressive mother-in-law, and Husband gave me permission to share it with you because he loves you almost as much as I do.

skeptical dog is skeptical

That’s not true, I don’t know why I said that.  He’s letting me share it because it’s funny and I asked and he already said no to something today so he used up his one veto.  That’ll teach him!

Okay, so now I’m sat here trying to tell you about this letter and I’m realizing that I can’t adequately explain the full glory of its passive-aggressive contents without giving you some context.  We’ve been alternately low-contact/no-contact with MIL for over a decade now, and I’m not sure how much of that to go into because it’s all unfunny and kind of a downer.  She knows we haven’t contacted her, and why, and she knows she did what…
