Thursday Photo Prompt: #writephoto Flight.

This is my entry for Sue Vincent of Daily Echo #writephoto.

This photo brings it all back to me now. As a child I lived on a council estate. The houses were all set out in crescents, each crescent had a green in its centre. The crescents were separated by a line of four houses then a cul du sac of houses, and alleyways to back of our crescent’s houses and oposite the next crescents houses, then another four houses then the next crescent repeated four times.
The houses on the other side of the road were private and backed on to a park. Why am I telling you this.

Well many an evening I would stand in our small  back garden and the photo is the view I had.  The roof tops, the chimneys with the ariels attached, the sunset/sunrise and the pigeons, especially the pigeons.

The man who lived next door kept racing pigeons, to me as a child hundreds of them. I doubt there were hundreds he had two “pigeon lofts” one the length of his back garden and one the width.

The earliest memories I have are of lying in my pram listening to the cooing of the pigeons. Glimpsing the sky through the sun canopy of my pram.

One of my lasting memories is standing in the backgarden watching the sun setting, hearing the man nextdoor calling in his birds after a race, hearing the joy in his voice as the first of his birds returned, I could feel the excitement as their shilouettes appeared over the roofs.

I have so many memories of the house I grew up in, got married from, took my children back to, to see their grandparents. The man next door his wife and her deaf sister were a large part of my life then.

We were a big family and our Mum and Dad never turned anyone away. There were always people staying over, waifs, strays, distant family, friends and almost strangers. That house with that view was in our lives for sixty years. Even after our parents died my eldest brother bought it and lived there for many years with his family. He sold it on about six years ago and a whole chapter of family life came to an end.

So today’s prompt was very special to me. So thank you Sue for the prompt. I hope that I have not bored anyone to sleep.

Carrie organised the party. Invited their friends and family . The best buffet she could afford and the venue was absolutely stunning.  Her hair and makeup professionally done and a new outfit she looked amazing. “A toast” she announced, “to my two timing, controlling bastard of a husband and his young tart”

Wordless Wednesday.

I know this is Wordless Wednesday but it needs a little explaining. “What is Ruby watching?” The black specks in the photos are actually swallows practicing feeding on the wing. As we traverse the field they appear to bomb us. We are disturbing insects as we walk. The swallows are after the insects. I only had my phone with me hence the weird photos of black blobs.

One Liner Wednesday: Alternative Dictionary.

Alternative Dictionary: Portrait = Bad Habit.

Never argue with the guy up top he keeps you safe I only made that mistake once. Didn’t survive the fall. He said my wire frayed.

A long days wait looking  for lights

Cold cold  the  harbour

Lost loved ones to cruel sea

Pain mirrored in harbour Lights.

Mirror like  the  sea

Shows life stormy and  becalmed

No safe harbour yet

Thrashed on the rocks  we cling on

Hoping against hope  for calm.

Song Lyric Sunday: Explosions

This week Helen Vahdati said : Our theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is to post a song with a word that describes a sound in the title or lyrics.

Rules and Pingback here

Well here I am a day late, apologies I just couldn’t manage to post this Sunday.

Sounds in the lyric or title well there are many from Hazel O’Conner and Breaking Glass to  Thats the sound of the men working on the chain gang . By Sam Cooke

Both amazing songs. Today I am going to choose Explosions By Ellie Goulding

It perfectly reflects way I feel right now.

Lyrics Explosions Ellie Goulding.

You trembled like you’d seen a ghost
And I gave in
I lack the things you need the most
You said where have you been
You wasted all that sweetness to run and hide
I wonder why
I remind you of the days you poured your heart into
But you never tried
I’ve fallen from grace
Took a blow to my face
I’ve loved and I’ve lost
I’ve loved and I’ve lost

Explosions on the day you wake up
Needing somebody and you’ve learned
It’s okay to be afraid
But it will never be the same
It will never be the same

You left my soul bleeding in the dark
So you could be king
The rules you set are still untold to me and I
Lost my faith in everything
The nights you could cope, your intentions were gold
But the mountains will shake
I need to know I can still make

Explosions on

Lyric from Google.

Have a great week folks avoid the black dog 💜

Rain , Rain  it  had  rained  everyday  of  this  wretched  journey  so  far. Prince Bonniface  was  wet  through  cold  and  very  very  bad  tempered! The  reins  kept  slipping  in  his  hands  and  his  horse  was playing  up … no doubt  as  fed up  with  the rain  as  the prince  himself  was.

Now  his  family  had  reigned over  their  kingdom  for  a  thousand  years!! Sadly the  present  king ( Bonniface’s dad) was   not  the  best  with  the  royal  purse  and  right  now  the  kingdom  was  deeply  in  the  red!  The  King  and  Queen  after much deliberation  decided  he  should  marry  Princess  Precious  from  the  the  kingdom  next  door  but one.

Well  that  was  not  so  bad  she  was  quiet  a  looker! So  it  was  a light  and happy  heart  that  he  set  off  to meet  Precious. All went  well until after dinner whilst  having   drink out on  the palace  veranda  that  Precious  showed  her  true  colours.

She  told  Bonniface   that  if  he  wished  to  marry  her  he  had  to carry  out  some  quests  for  her, to  prove  his  worth. So this  is  where  we  came in at  the  top  of  the  story. Poor  Bonniface   had  spent  the  last  two  years, getting  water  from  the  Well of  Life, crystals  from  the  Mountains of  Doom and  three  scales  from a  living  dragon (  boy  that  was hard!) and  now  he was  supposed  to  getting  a  lock  of  hair  from a  fairy!

Right, now  you  know  why  Bonniface  is  wet , tired and  completely  fed  up !  Night  was falling  and  Bonniface  was hungry  and  so  was his  horse. As they  rounded  the  bend  Bonniface  saw  tiny  twinkling  lights  up  ahead. Ah!  he  thought  perhaps  there is  a chance  of  shelter  and  food, his  horse  (  who I  have  not  introduced  yet, named Jet, due  to his  colour) thought  exactly  the  same .

Nearing  the  lights, Prince  and  horse  were  amazed  to  see  that  they  were  surrounded  twinkling  fairies! They  were  really  so  enchanting  and  beautiful. The  Prince stood  stock  still  and  opened  mouthed. The  tiny  and  beautiful  faires  danced  all around  him. All  the  warnings  he  had  been  given  about  this  sort  of  thing totally  disappeared from his  mind  and  he  forgot  the rain and  the  tiredness  and  smiled !

A beautiful  soft  voice  from  behind  him made  him spin  round .

There in front of  him  was  the  most  beautiful  Fairy Prince, blonde  hair,  blue  eyes, red lips  and  equally  as  tall as  himself.  Bonniface  was  smitten . “Prince  Bonniface I  assume” said  the  silver tongued  Fairy Prince, ( I  do  mean  he  had a  silver  coloured  tongue). ” I  have  had  my  eye on  you  for  several  months  now”  The  Fairy  Prince  smiled  and  bowed  very  low  taking  a  good  look  at  the  bedraggled  Bonniface  as  he  straighten up. Bonniface  was  still dumbstruck.

Well  the  Fairy  Prince  persuaded  Prince  Bonniface   to  stay  for  dinner  and  for decency’s sake  I  shall not  mention  what  happened  after  dinner   but  boy  it  was  hot and  Joy  reigned  supreme!

In  the  morning  the  Fairy Prince  invited  Prince  Bonniface  to  stay  with  him  forever, apparently  if  he  stayed  he  would  become  a fairy  too  and  be  married  to  the  Fairy  Prince. It  took  Bonniface  a  split  second  to  weigh  up  the  pros  and  cons  of  life with the  Fairy  Prince  or  Princess Precious…… Yup  he  stayed  and  he  and  the Fairy  Prince lived  happily  ever  after. Well I  say  happily  ever after  they  did  have  their  ups  and  downs  and  Bonniface  found  himself  in  the  body  of  a  frog   more  than once   but  he  and  his  Prince  never  slept on  an  argument and  they always  made up  before sunset . They  had  lots of  fun  and  glorious sex  and  Bonniface   never  had  to  go  on  anymore  quests!

Jet  became a unicorn  and  was  very  popular  because   he  was  the only  black  unicorn in existence!

Prince Bonniface’s  parents  suddenly  came  into  money  and  his  younger brother  Bob  became  the  next in  line  (  Bob  was an accountant   so  the  kingdom was in  safe  hands)

Princess Precious, well after  a  year or  two  decided  that Bonniface was  not  coming  back so  she  married  Prince  Rufus  of  some  other  Kingdom and  after  an uneasy  start  they  fell in  love  and  she  become  half  decent !

I  won’t  say  they  all  lived  happily  ever after   because  let us   get  real  no one  does  not  even in  real  fairytales.   But  these  guys  above  made  a  pretty  good  fists of  it!
