Song Lyric Sunday: One Hundred Years.

This is my entry to Helen Espinoza’s Song lyric Sunday hosted by her sister Lorrie (dlrands)

Today’s theme is time.

Well at the moment I feel that time is running away from me. I am getting older, my children all grown up, my grandchildren growing in number. I am scared at times there is more behind me than ahead. I am doing my best to live life to the full and do my best to not waste a moment.

My mother in law is 97yrs luckily for her she is pretty fit mentally and physically and determined to live forever!  I have to admit time scares me.

Now to my choice of song. It is by Five for Fighting and is called One Hundred Years.

Who introduced me to Five for Fighting, none less than Helen Espinosa herself. Thank you Helen 💜💗

One Hundred Years

I’m 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I’m just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are

I’m 22 for a moment
And she feels better than ever
And we’re on fire
Making our way back from Mars

15 there’s still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose
15, there’s never a wish better than this
When you only got a hundred years to live

I’m 33 for a moment
Still the man, but you see I’m a “they”
A kid on the way, babe.
A family on my mind

I’m 45 for a moment
The sea is high
And I’m heading into a crisis
Chasing the years of my life

15 there’s still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose yourself
Within a morning star

15 I’m all right with you
15, there’s never a wish better than this
When you only got a hundred years to live

Half time goes by
Suddenly you’re wise
Another blink of an eye
67 is gone
The sun is getting high
We’re moving on…

I’m 99 for a moment
And dying for just another moment
And I’m just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are

15 there’s still time for you
22 I feel her too
33 you’re on your way
Every day’s a new day…

(oh oh ohs)

15 there’s still time for you
Time to buy and time to choose
Hey 15, there’s never a wish better than this
When you only got a hundred years to live

This song has me imagining what it would be like if we were born and all knew we had 100 years to live, 100 exactly. What would we do differently? Most of us get less. It can be scary. I thought back to when I was 15 and 22 and I just turned 33 a few weeks ago. Time does, indeed, go by. In a blink of an eye. Fascinating musings this song produces.
