Stream of Consciousness Saturday: Ham

This  is  my  entry  for  LindaGHill‘s  SoCs, this  week  Linda  said  : Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “ham.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

When I  was  at  home , as in childhood  home

Every Christmas Mum cooked  Ham on the bone.

Turkey  was obviously  cooked  too

Let’s  face it in  those  days what  else was  there  to  do?

On boxing  day  friends  were  round  , Dad would off food.

Would  you like  a sandwich  he  would ask

Everyone  said  please  not  wanting  to be  rude

Dad  would  bring in  a  huge plate  of  turkey sarnies, to  eat, our task!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Every  year  we  fell  for  Dad  offering us  turkey  sandwiches…yes  there  were  a few turkey  sandwiches  on  the  top  the  rest  were  all  boiled  ham!
    Don’t you love traditions…my dad liked a ham sandwich on Christmas day..It all started after my mum died and he was home alone one christmas and my sister called to see him and all he had in the fridge was ham so they had a ham sandwich for Christmas day lunch…we’ve tried to maintain it ever since in memory of him more than a love of the ham sanger…
    One has to do what one has to do in order to rid oneself of those leftovers.
