Song Lyric Sunday: Shiny Happy People.

This week Helen Espinosa is taking a break and her sister Dlrands/Lorrie is setting our prompt for us. The prompt this week is A song that make us feel better.

So let me think back past all the recent songs that make me happy. Let’s go back to 1991 and Shiny happy people from REM. Not an easy time in my life, marriage problems, work problems, parental problems you name it I had it!

Something about the song always gave the umph! To keep going!

“Shiny Happy People” by REM

Shiny happy people laughing

Meet me in the crowd, people, people
Throw your love around, love me, love me
Take it into town, happy, happy
Put it in the ground where the flowers grow
Gold and silver shine

Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing

Everyone around, love them, love them
Put it in your hands, take it, take it
There’s no time to cry, happy, happy
Put it in your heart where tomorrow shines
Gold and silver shine

Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing

Whoa, here we go

Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing

Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing

Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing

Shiny happy people holding hands
People, happy people

I absolutely love this song. I still remember the first time I heard it…many years after it was released. Thanks for sharing.

These guys have had some excellent tunes over the years. I met them once. Nice nice bunch of guys. This song choice is perfect. How can you not feel even the least bit better when listening to this one? Thanks for the reminder.
