First and Last Trio of Haiku
First the Solstice came
Then the brash Lord Of Miss-Rule
Winter’s leave at last.

First light silently
Smiled at the worn out Old Year
Time to rest at last

First the make up
Then the dress and golden shoes
Her turn at long last.

Today out the blue my eldest sister sent me a photo she had take of our family outside our home in London. Circa 1956 ! It was such a lovely surprise and it really took me back!
As Teresa was taking the photo and not visible I asked her to find another one but with her in it! She did, this time one of the twins was absent as she was taking the photo ! I look a little older in this one so I reckon it is circa 1958.
Top photo : Elder Brother T with his tongue out,Mum, , Dear Mary now deceased, Elder brother’s Twin F, Brother JP, Dad and me.
Bottom photo: Eldest sister Tess, brother T in long trousers this time, a cousin, brother JP with his tongue out this time, Mary peeping out at the back , another cousin and then me looking grumpy!!

Reminiscing
I remember the days of black and white
When we were taught wrong from right .
Endless days of love while growing up
Here I drink from yesterday’s cup.
Here we are in days gone by
My those years spread their wings and fly.
Hot dinners ,comfort in the family fold
Things to remember when we get old.
Someone is missing, sister Tess,
With the camera she catches us in time
Come good or ill,all of us, lives entwine
This made me what I am I guess.
Days were so much simpler then
I bet you think I have rose tinted glasses on
I know you do but you are wrong!

This is my offering for Ronovanwrites Haiku Challenge this week : Feel&Space
Dark space surrounds me
Steadily you drift away
I feel all at sea.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I no longer feel
Space to breath is what I crave
So cold like the grave.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Empty starlit sky
I feel space all around me
In escape I fly

This is offering for Sue Vincent‘s #writephoto Time.it is a re-gig of a poem I wrote in 2013.
TIME RUNS OUT
Clock face out of pace,
Time flies its a race.
Tick tock out of space
Turn and run fall from grace.
Time flies, crooks and spies .
Dead bodies fester maggots and blue flies.
Life comes life goes death travels on,
No one knows where he gone.
Tick tock ,plip plop dripping tap racing clock.
Watch your toes on the starting block.
Peddle peddle wheels go round
Changing gears drowns the sound
Of horses hoofs on the ground.
Big eyes tell lies,
Open mouths catch flies.
Time lives, life dies!

This week Helen Espinosa said :The Song Lyric Sunday theme for this week was to post a song a Holiday song that best describes you during the Holiday season. Please feel free to click the link, read the rules and post one of your own.
Well this song by Joni Mitchell is one I love, though it is a very sad song. It makes me think of all the people who for whatever reason become disenfranchised from their friends and loved ones.
Slipping into a downward spiral they are always looking for the big brake that will set them up or get them off the drugs or the drink so they can go home. It always makes me cry, it always makes me think of the lost and the lonely at Christmas. I count my blessings and pray for those less fortunate.
Lyrics found at A to Z lyrics
River” by Joni Mitchell
It’s coming on Christmas,
They’re cutting down trees.
They’re putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace,
Oh, I wish I had a river I could skate away on.
But it don’t snow here,
Stays pretty green.
I’m gonna make a lot of money
And and then I’m gonna quit this crazy scene.
Oh, I wish I had a river I could skate away on.
I wish I had a river so long,
I would teach my feet to fly.
Oh, I wish I had a river I could skate away on.
I made my baby cry.
he tried hard to help me,
he put me at ease.
lord,he loved me so naughty,
made me weak in the knees.
Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on.
I’m so hard to handle,
I’m selfish and I’m sad.
Now I’ve gone and lost the best baby
That I’ve ever had.
Oh, I wish I had a river I could skate away on.
I wish I had a river so long,
I would teach my feet to fly.
Oh, I wish I had a river I could skate away on.
I made my baby say goodbye.
It’s coming on Christmas,
They’re cutting down trees.
They’re putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace,
I wish I had a river I could skate away on.
