This is part of Norm2.0‘s Thursday Doors.
Today has been a really busy day and I have been so busy that I have only had time to dig out some photos of door from a visit to Sardinia June 2007. This is a very short blog as I only have a few minutes to spare.

The Church at Langiseno opposite the police station

This Door was consecrated by Pope Honorious 111 in 1221 and is walled up on the inside

This is a church we found in the mountains .
The church was carved into the mountainside in the middle of nowhere .

The view approaching the church.

and this is the view across the valley from the door at the back of the church.

Magnificent doors. How did they carve a church in the side of a mountain when they didn’t have the equipment we have today? Fascinating, isn’t it?

It is amazing, I don’t remember if there was any information. Possibility there was a cave there to start with and people just slowly worked on it! Persistence and determination . xxx

Indeed. I agree with you. 🙂

Some real beauties in this collection particularly for something you put together on the fly. I’m very fond of that first one – I can only imagine what the inside of that old church is like.
