Song Lyric Sunday, Scary, Creepy, Halloween

This is part of Helen Espinosa‘s Song Lyric Sunday theme. Well as Helen said it is Halloween time  :So, our theme for Song Lyric Sunday is to post a scary song.  I don’t necessarily want it to be stereotypical of Halloween, but I do want to be creeped out either by the lyrics, the music and/or the title.  So, go explore, my friends and we’ll start Halloween off early this year!

Well Helen wants to be creeped out? Let’s set aside the obvious, Thriller and Werewolves of London or even The Monster Munch.

Rules and Pingback
I really have to do more than one. Firstly let’s look at Imogen Heap’s Rake it in.

Scary

Rake it in by Imogen Heap.

Here I am here again
Tied up in your torture frame
Printed paper, guilty to blame
The story stays the same

[Chorus]
Dry me out
Run me down
Burn me up
And rake it in
And rake it in
Dry me out
Run me down
Burn me up
Rake it in
Rake it in
Rake it in
Rake it in

A slave upon your plate
I am your dreams, yeah
Your life and your bait
Selfish schemes,
I proceed, you await
You my indefinite hate

[Chorus]

Do you know what my chopping block’s for?
Do you know what my hanging braid’s for?
Do you know what my chamber maid’s for?
Do you know what I, what I have in store for you?

Dry me out
Run me down
Burn me up
Rake it in
Rake it in
Rake it in
Rake it in
Yeah,
Dry me out
Run me down
Burn me up
And rake it in
Yeah,
Drag me down
Run me out
Burn me up
And rake it in
And rake it in
Rake it in
Some more

Well I have always found these lyrics very chilling then I found this video  and it has honestly freaked me out too.

Okay well that was nasty and scary here is another  this time it’s another of my favorite singer songwriters Sia. Straight for the knife. This also has distressing lyrics and also video.

Creepy

Straight for the knife by Sia

Put on my best dress, I wanted to impress
I put a little make-up on
Put a bow in my hair, wore pretty underwear
Hoping you might take it off
Don’t know your etiquette but
I’m strapped to my chair, and it ain’t ’cause you’re pretty
You were charming, until
You saw your chance to kill your chance to make history

[Chorus:]
You went straight for the knife, and I prepared to die
Your blade it shines
Looked me straight in the eye, you turned the gas on high
Held the flame alight, you wonder why
I’m scared of fire
You wonder why you make girls cry

My mascara a mess, harsh words for your princess
Boy you, and your promises
If your goal was to love, you scored an epic miss
Now you’ll just have memories

[Chorus:]
You went straight for the knife, and I prepared to die
Your blade it shines
Looked me straight in the eye, you turned the gas on high
Held the flame alight, you wonder why
I’m scared of fire
You wonder why you make girls cry

Boy you draw me back in
I’m hungry for your bad loving
But will someone find me swinging from the rafters
From hanging on your every word

[Chorus:]
You went straight for the knife, and I prepared to die
Your blade it shines
Looked me straight in the eye, you turned the gas on high
Held the flame alight, you wonder why
I’m scared of fire
You wonder why you make girls cry
You wonder why you make girls cry

Finally but not least another of my heroines Annie Lennox with Love Song for a Vampire. Need I say more?

Halloween

Love song for a Vampire by Annie Lennox.

Come into these arms again
And lay your body down
The rhythm of this trembling heart
Is beating like a drum

It beats for you – It bleeds for you
It knows not how it sounds
For it is the drum of drums
It is the song of songs…

Once I had the rarest rose
That ever deigned to bloom.
Cruel winter chilled the bud
And stole my flower too soon.

Oh loneliness – oh hopelessness
To search the ends of time
For there is in all the world
No greater love than mine.

Love, oh love, oh love…
Still falls the rain… (still falls the rain)
Love, oh love, oh, love…
Still falls the night…
Love, oh love, oh love…
Be mine forever…. (be mine forever)
Love, oh love, oh love….

Let me be the only one
To keep you from the cold
Now the floor of heaven’s lain
With stars of brightest gold

They shine for you – they shine for you
They burn for all to see
Come into these arms again
And set this spirit free

Well that’s all for now, and I shall tell you something else that creeped me out whilst getting two of these lyrics I was redirected to two nasty sites! That freaked me out! Needless I did not hang about and deleted them !!

Happy Halloween to you all!

    Creepy. Spooky. Chilling.
Not sure it’s allowed to publish song lyrics. Something about copywrite.

Wow, I think I’m thoroughly creeped out now. Thanks for giving me exactly what I asked for! I can’t even tell you which one was my favorite, but you can never go wrong with vampires! Thanks, Willow! 🙂

All good, but I love Annie Lennox. She keeps popping into my weekend in different disguises!
Not familiar with the first two but definitively spooky, scary, creepy, Halloweeny.

Imogen Heap and Sia are two of my favourite singer songwriters, well worth checking out. Glad you liked the songs . You can’t beat Annie Lennox, pure talent. Have a good week . x
