Thursday Doors : Guedelon

Two doors where do  they lead,  do they lead into  the  castle  or  do  they  lead out  or  do  they  lead into  the  13th century?

Well these  are just two  doors  at  Guedelon Castle in Burgandy  in France.  This  castle  is  in  Treigny, France. They  have  been building  it  since  1997 and  they  are  no  where  near  finished  because  they  are using  13th century  methods.

Do read  all about  it here  Guedelon Castle. I  shall be  writing in  more  detail about  it  in a post  coming soon.

This is part  of  Norm2.0 Thursday Doors read  his  post  here

This sounds like a fascinating project – certainly a lot of fun for those involved.
    Thanks for sharing this 🙂

What a fascinating project to build something like this today but only using ancient methods, I googled it and had a look. Can’t wait to see more when you write about it.

I love that shot from inside. That link is so interesting. The Dunbrody tall ship in New Ross is a replica of the ship that brought President Kennedy’s ancestors to America. It was made using only the tools of the day and is authentic in every way. It took them a long time to make that, too.

I like the door with the spiky things protruding from the inside out of the door. Hmm. Interesting. 🙂
