Thoughts from France: Lake Guerledan

Silence broken by lapping water

Prehistoric memories linger here

Wooden poles, you keep your secrets

We stand and wonder what you know.

How many people have you seen

As you have watched this lake

And hills covered in forrest green.

We stand here and our guesses make.

The silence, broken voices from the lake

Canoes serenely gluiding by

Lac Du Guerledan, beauty true not fake

We stand  betwixt your waters and sky .

Thoughts from France, Abbaye Bon-Repos

The Abbaye de Bon-Repos was a pleasant vist only ten miles from where we are staying. We drove through narrow wooded roads some of them very steep.

We arrived late morning and walked across the old stone bridge stopping to look at weir and look at the trees reflected in the water.

Standing at the bottom of the tree lined walk up to the entrance of the Abbaye I could feel the presence of the monks that had lived and died there over the years .
There was a reconstruction of a Medieval village built in front of the Abbaye, leading down to the river. It was very cleverly done and look quite authentic.

After we finished looking around the Abbaye we crossed back over the bridge to a cafe / bar and had a drink of coffee. We met this very handsome guy below, I think Ruby would be very taken with him. Then we walked along the river bank for a mile or so meeting other travellers. Our walk finished we sat opposite the Abbaye and had a late picnic.
