This is part of Norm Frampton’s Thursday Doors prompt.
Sunflower Door
Two years ago while on holiday in Italy I found this beautiful door in the back allies of a town who’s name escapes me now.
As usual my imagination when into over drive and I wrote this little poem.
There is a door in the wall
If I step through it will I fall?
What is on the other side
My curiosity I cannot hide.
In this tall walled alley steeped with history.
I feel the souls from hundreds of years, they speak to me.
Thousands of feet have passed this way.
Births,deaths,those who betray.
Intrigue and bloody murder.
A woman shamed, who attacked her.
Yet in the here and now I stand.
Looking at this sunflower door and
Wonder what is on the other side?
I long to step forward and throw it wide.
It would of been a step into infinity.
The door hide a fearful drop indeed the end of me.
Yet I am here to tell the tale
Fate’s test I passed, happily I did not fail.
The other side of the door!
