It’s called a narrow boat, they were used to transport all types of cargo in the olden days. Whole families used to live and work on them. Nowadays they are used as homes and for holidays. They are always beautifully decorated and kept, read here about them here

I was watching a show on those house boats in England and how they were built narrow to fit through the canals. Amazing way to travel – take your house with you – Ha! Really neat pictures Willow – Thank You.

Yes they are amazing, they started off as working boats carrying coal, cotton, clay, china,all sorts from docks to factories, generations of families grew up on them , nowadays they are mainly used for pleasure and holiday lets. Read here about them . https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narrowboat
