Song Lyric Sunday: “As The World Falls Down”

I remember  1986  the  year  Labyrinth was  released, I was 36  yrs old  and  yet  the  film captivated  me. The  words  of  the  song  have  always  been  special  to  me.  As for David  Bowie  he  is  just  a hero whatever  guise  he  comes in!

“As The World Falls Down”

There’s such a sad love
Deep in your eyes.
A kind of pale jewel
Open and closed
Within your eyes.
I’ll place the sky
Within your eyes.

There’s such a fooled heart
Beatin’ so fast
In search of new dreams.
A love that will last
Within your heart.
I’ll place the moon
Within your heart.

As the pain sweeps through,
Makes no sense for you.
Every thrill is gone.
Wasn’t too much fun at all,
But I’ll be there for you-ou-ou
As the world falls down.

Falling.
Falling down.
Falling in love.

I’ll paint you mornings of gold.
I’ll spin you Valentine evenings.
Though we’re strangers ’til now,
We’re choosing the path
Between the stars.
I’ll leave my love
Between the stars.

As the pain sweeps through,
Makes no sense for you.
Every thrill is gone.
Wasn’t too much fun at all,
But I’ll be there for you-ou-ou
As the world falls down.

Falling
As the world falls down.
Falling
As the world falls down.
Falling.
Falling.
Falling.
Falling in love
As the world falls down.
Falling.
Falling.
Falling.
Falling.
Falling in love
As the world falls down.
Makes no sense at all.
Makes no sense to fall.
Falling
As the world falls down.
Falling.
Falling in love
As the world falls down.
Falling.
Falling
Falling in love
As the world falls down.

Happy Christmas Everyone

Happy  Christmas  everyone. Have  a  wonderful  day. I know  this post  is  a little  sentimental  but  hey ! why not.

Love  to  you  all.

Black, Black  the  sky  cold the  winds  blow

Across  the  sand  by  the  light  of  the  stars progress was  slow.

She  was  slight  but with  child. Tired  and  near  her  time.

They  had  had  to travel  then,   the  census to  sign.

They arrive late after many  days  travel and  there  was no place  to stay.

She was  too tired  to  chide  her  man for his  incompetence

Her time  was near,  she  urged him  to  find  a place  she could lay.

He found  a  stable bare and  full of   the  animal’s  stench.

He  did his  best  to  make  her  comfortable  as  she  began  her  labor

She  was  so young  and  a virgin  she  knew  not  what  was happening

Finally  a  child  was  born  as  promised a  boy to  the  world a savior.

From outside  came  a gentle  light  and  the  sound of  singing.

People  came from far  and  wide, rich  and  poor bringing  gifts

No one  knew  why  they  came  but  come  they  did

All  saw  the  beauty  of  the  family and  felt  their  sorrow lift.

Christmas story

A little  Christmas  chapter  from  my  story  about  Sofia  a  fallen  angel commend to  walk  the  earth  neither  fully  human or  fully an angel  until  she  had  earned  redemption. From  Sofia  how it all began

Sofia

Through the years she walked finding solace where she could, changing with the world, yet knowing more than it would ever know.  Sofia spent years wondering alone with only animals and the stars to keep her company. She saw man as a race come into being and grow, she swam through the weeks of the great flood and watched the dove carry the the olive branch to the ark.

Sofia was lonely she never yet met one of her own, she saw Moss receive the ten commandments and wondered to herself if man could adhere to them.

Then one day she could smell one of her own  she ran, she missed her wings but she could cover continents in hours .
Sofia reveled in the scent she knew it, she loved it. It was Gabriel and he was in the town of Nazareth visiting a young virgin to implant the seed of the one.

The warmth, the love she felt was amazing. Sofia waited in the alley below the young virgin’s window listening. Then when Gabriel left the young girl, wondering what had happened to her, Sofia approached him.  Silently she leaned out and touched him and when he turned to face her she was shocked by the look in his eyes.  It was strange there was  grief, pity and fear “Gabriel” she said in not much more than a whisper “Brother , brother touch me please” Gabriel spoke with no emotion “I cannot touch you you have fallen from grace you may not look upon my face.” Weeping now she reached out and touched his arm. To her horror and dismay he withdrew his arm like lightening and produced his flaming sword.

Shrinking back she could not believe her eyes the pain she was experiencing was raw and new to her, it was tearing  at her insides like a cancer. Glancing once more at Gabriel she turned and slipped away feeling dirty inside and out!

Gabriel watched her leave , beaten. broken head bowed. He shook his beautiful head then as he turned to go he heard Sofia ask “What about forgiveness” hesitating he turned back once more to see her slinking off into the shadows….. something hurt his eyes it was a burning he moved his hand to rub his eyes to find that they were leaking water??

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sofia was hurt deeply she found her grief all consuming,she hid in the shadows for days but she decided she was going to watch this young virgin in whom the One has entrusted such an important seed.
Gently she shadowed the young girl helped her take the sticks and stones and words that came her way, she even intervened with the man who was to be her husband. Sofia whispered in his ear that she was a good girl and that she had indeed been visited by a messenger of the the One, hard to believe as that was, it was true!
She followed them to Bethlehem  and ensured that they had somewhere to stay. Sofia had to smile at how easily she was now finding getting inside the human mind and suggesting her will to them. The air was full of angels at every turn she could smell and feel her beloved kindred, sadly though they all ignored or even worse denied her. Stubborn though she stayed with the young couple doing her best to help them.
Finally when the child was born Sofia sat outside the stable weeping the angels had refused her entry she could not defy them she had not the strength. The warmth she was being denied was too much pain, more than she could bear, as she rose to leave the young woman asked why Sofia could not see the child she thought he was to save all. There was no answer and so the woman rose and slowly walked out into the shadows towards Sofia.
The warmth and the love Sofia had not dared to think of was walking towards her. The hope she received from the child was more that she had ever imagined . She looked into the eyes of the young mother and said” thank you”.
Monday, Memories: Homeless at Christmas
I do  not  know  who  this  man is but  I have used his  face more  than once when  writing  about  compassion. There  is  something  in his  eyes that  reach out  telling  his  story pain, grief  rejection it is  all there!
I used  his  face  last  at Christmas while I was  talking  about  Crisis at Christmas .  Crisis is  the National Charity  for single  hopeless people. They  are dedicated  to  helping  people  and  giving  them a chane  to change  their life’s for the better, to give  them hope.
The  Charity  works  all year  round of  course  but  they  also do  Crisis at Christmas.  Volunteers spend a  fortnight  cooking, providing  a  warm place  to stay  for those  lost and lonely people. They  give  them new  clothes, a  hair cut   and  also help  them  to change  their  lives if  they  want  to. They  help  with  finding somewhere  to live  or a job  interview .
They  show  real  compassion  they  help  and  they are unpaid and  they  really  make  a  difference.
Pogues – Fairytale Of New York Lyrics
It was Christmas Eve babe
In the drunk tank
An old man said to me, won’t see another one
And then he sang a song
The Rare Old Mountain Dew
I turned my face away
And dreamed about youGot on a lucky one
Came in eighteen to one
I’ve got a feeling
This year’s for me and you
So happy Christmas
I love you baby
I can see a better time
When all our dreams come trueThey’ve got cars big as bars
They’ve got rivers of gold
But the wind goes right through you
It’s no place for the old
When you first took my hand
On a cold Christmas Eve
You promised me
Broadway was waiting for me
You were handsome
You were pretty
Queen of New York City
When the band finished playing
They howled out for more
Sinatra was swinging,
All the drunks they were singing
We kissed on a corner
Then danced through the night
The boys of the NYPD choir
Were singing “Galway Bay”
And the bells were ringing out
For Christmas day
You’re a bum
You’re a punk
You’re an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
You scumbag, you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy Christmas your arse
I pray God it’s our last
The boys of the NYPD choir
Still singing “Galway Bay”
And the bells were ringing out
For Christmas day
I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can’t make it all alone
I’ve built my dreams around you
The boys of the NYPD choir
Still singing “Galway Bay”
And the bells are ringing out
For Christmas day
I love  this  song  it  always  reminds of  Christmas.  It is  about life  in  all it’s  colours! ….sorry  late  again!
If we were having Coffee : Late again!
If we were having Coffee: The weather  is  getting  distinctly  wintry, fogs, rain,  and  cold so  lets  all go inside  and  be  comfy by  the fire.  I  can  still entertain  you  all  with tea  and coffee  from all over  the world not to mention all our cakes  and muffins  and  as Paul  calls  them sweets! Every single  one  is  calorie  free! Plus of course  we now have spirits  and liquors  to warm the coldest of  you.
If we were having Coffee: I would  remind  you  that  there  are lots of  other  coffee mornings  all shared  and organized  By  Diana  and  Gene’O  over at,Part time monster
If we were having Coffee: I would  have  to  say  I  truly  wish  I  could  have just  one  day  when there  was  not  a  trauma, a  problem when I  end up  being  knee  deep in  shit! Okay  that  is  my  moan  done  and out of  the  way!
If we were having Coffee: I  would  say  it is  nice  to  be  home but  sneakily  I  do  miss the  wonderful  weather  and  the  sea! Here  it  is  wet , dull  and  damp! The  temperature here is  unusually  mild  for  this  time of  the  year 11 degrees  but they have  actually  been  as high  as  13 degrees!  We  should  all be  really cold  and  shivering  by  now?
If we  were  having coffee:  I tell you the  tree is  up  and  so is  the  Christmas  wreath I  made  last  year.
img_20151219_184049797.jpg
The tree looks a little blue!
img_20151221_081804580.jpg
As  you  can  see  I  have  dressed  the  tree  slightly  differently  this  year  I  still have  all  the  little  decorations  that  make up  the  memory  tree  but  the  blue  lights  make it look  very  different!
The special Memory Tree
If we  were having Coffee : I would  have  to  say  that  even  though  I  promised  to  be  up  to  speed  with  my  blog  by  Sunday  just  gone   but  I  have  failed! This  week  is  the  run  up  to Christmas  after  all and  I  keep  meeting  myself  coming  backwards! I  am  trying  honest  I  am!
Here are  some  photos  of  what  i  am  missing!
