Song Lyric Sunday: “As The World Falls Down”

I remember  1986  the  year  Labyrinth was  released, I was 36  yrs old  and  yet  the  film captivated  me. The  words  of  the  song  have  always  been  special  to  me.  As for David  Bowie  he  is  just  a hero whatever  guise  he  comes in!

“As The World Falls Down”

There’s such a sad love
Deep in your eyes.
A kind of pale jewel
Open and closed
Within your eyes.
I’ll place the sky
Within your eyes.

There’s such a fooled heart
Beatin’ so fast
In search of new dreams.
A love that will last
Within your heart.
I’ll place the moon
Within your heart.

As the pain sweeps through,
Makes no sense for you.
Every thrill is gone.
Wasn’t too much fun at all,
But I’ll be there for you-ou-ou
As the world falls down.

Falling down.
Falling in love.

I’ll paint you mornings of gold.
I’ll spin you Valentine evenings.
Though we’re strangers ’til now,
We’re choosing the path
Between the stars.
I’ll leave my love
Between the stars.

As the pain sweeps through,
Makes no sense for you.
Every thrill is gone.
Wasn’t too much fun at all,
But I’ll be there for you-ou-ou
As the world falls down.

As the world falls down.
As the world falls down.
Falling in love
As the world falls down.
Falling in love
As the world falls down.
Makes no sense at all.
Makes no sense to fall.
As the world falls down.
Falling in love
As the world falls down.
Falling in love
As the world falls down.

I love this song so much.
It is one of the greatest songs from Bowie and say “dream, you dreams can come true”.

I think I’ve seen Labrynth maybe two times and it was back when I was a teenager. But I loved it! I remember this song and thinking she was so beautiful and he was dreamy. Lol. The lyrics are poetry and so beautiful! Thanks for sharing! (And I apologize for my post going up late today) 😉

For some strange reason, I’ve not seen this movie! I know, shockers… will definitely have to remedy the situation. My goodness Jennifer Connelly is so young in this!
    Beautiful song indeed.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen that movie. We owned that movie, and it was on quite often. David Bowie is captivating, and the story line speaks of imagination, coming of age, and standing up for one’s beliefs. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

I love this song and am extremely excited to say I shall be going to a masquerade ball as part of the Leeds Author event (only as a guest) but sadly I don’t think it will be quite as magical as this one or that the Goblin King will be waiting to take my hand 😦

I am envious I have never been to a masquerade or come to that an author’s event. I hope you have a lovely time … I like to meet Bowie.. Heyho! Happy New Year xxxx
