New Year’s Eve, what is New?

Death wheeling in the New Year

It was late,  the  last  day of  the  year was  done and leaving  no  doubt

Death  was  pushing in the New Year as  Old Father Time was on his  way out.

Everywhere  plans  were  being made for  beginnings  shiny  and  new

Death  and Old  Father Time raised  an eyebrow it was all rubbish, they knew.

Death  knew  he  would spend  his  time  as he did  time and  time  again

Just doing his job with out  complaint , clearing up  the fall out  of mankind’s pain.

From  the crashed  car, to  a  bomb in a cafe, a knife  fight in  the dark

A plane crash, train wreck, a war ,climbing  accident or tragedy  in the park.

Old Father time  had  seen it  all , in technicolour  more  than once  before

He  patted Death on  the  shoulder  as he  trudge  towards the  sunrise once more.

He slipped  on spilt  blood on  the  floor and  stepped over  miss chances

He  knew  them  so well, he passed  by  the  plotters and  suicides ready for one way dances.

A cry  from the pram made  the old guys  both jump,

Why did hope always  arrive at  this  time of  year, in  this dump

The  New  Year was  gurgling  and  burbling  with joy, eyes  bright on horizons new

Painting rosy lies  across  the world, closing it’s  eyes to badness  and  feelings  of  blue.

Happy New Year

Maudlin Monday Tears

Hush Mouse  keep it  shut, no  need  to  ask  for  trouble

Black  times  are  back  and  ready   to  burst  your  Christmas  bubble.

The  tree  may  still be  up  and  sparkling  bright yet  you

Know  that Christmas  is  finished  good  and  true.

Quiet  day  on  the  face of it   but  blackness  swirled, not  quiet hidden

Mouse  had  felt  the  dark  vibes  so had  done  all that  was  bidden.

In came  the boy  all unsuspecting  but  did not  meet  the  grade

All hell was let  loose, voices  raised, all Christmas  cheer began. to fade

If we were having Coffee: The week between Christmas and New Year

Cosy Toes

Welcome  everyone  to  the  first  If  we  were having  coffee after Christmas. Although  the  weather has been  unseasonably mild  the last  two days  the  temperature has  dropped  and the rain has  set in and  the  wind has  been  really  wild.    Some  parts of  the  country  are  having  truly  severe weather with more  to  come  … read  here

Come on  in  it  nice  to  sit  and  have a  chat  after  all  the  hustle  and  bustle  of  the past  few days.   I  can  still entertain  you  all  with tea  and coffee  from all over  the world not to mention all our cakes  and muffins  and  as Paul  calls  them sweets! Every single  one  is  calorie  free! Plus of course  we now have spirits  and liquors  to warm the coldest of  you.

Christmas Dinner

Well Christmas dinner  came  and  went  and  it  was  not  without  a  hitch! There  was a little  stress in  the  kitchen  the  Turkey  needed  to  be  removed  from  the  oven  and  turned. Well  that  was  the  plan, but  that is  not  what  happened!  The  Turkey rashly  threw itself on  the  floor  spilling  fat  and  oil  all over  the  floor,  the  units  and  the  hubby! Thankfully  he  was  quick  thinking   and  dashed up stairs  disrobing  as  he  went! Number  two  son  managed  to  grab  the  roasting  hot  turkey  and  throw it into  a  clean pan  and  we  got it  back into  the  oven.

We washed  the  floor  and  the units  and hubby  washed  and  changed  and  all disasters  were  avoided!  Dinner was  delicious  and  fun  though  our  eldest  lad  does  have  a habit  of  winding  number  two  son up!

If we were having  coffee :

It  has  been  a very  busy  week,  shopping,  wrapping presents, cooking  and  entertaining! Yesterday, Boxing  Day  we (  sons number  one  and  two, hubby  and  I   and  mother in law ) all trooped off  to  the Newbie’s  and  we had  a  wonderful  day.  From  an  excited welcome  to  lots  of  play   and  present  opening    and  to  round it up  a  walk  to  to  the  local  play  park!!

IMG_20151226_141401528_HDRIf we  were  having  Coffee:  I would  have  to  say  we  are  all  sill  waiting  patiently   for  our  dear  Paul  Curran   to  rejoin us here at  the  coffee  share   but  until he is  well enough  and up  and  running again  we  shall  have  to  bide our  time!

For  now  everyone  Be  well  and  happy!
