If we were having Coffee: Gardens, kitchens and flowers!

Coffee time

Hello  everyone  welcome  to  the garden  we have a marquee  and  heaters, all the garden  furniture  has  been washed  and  I have put out cushions for your  comfort.

Well what  do  you  think  shall  we  chance  it . Now  as  always  we have  tea  and coffee  from all over  the world not to mention all our cakes  and muffins  and  as Paul  calls  them sweets! Every single  one  is  calorie  free! Plus of course  we now have spirits  and liquors  to warm the coldest of  you.

If we were having  Coffee: I would ask  you what  has been going on in your world this week, has  anything  deeply affected  you, have  you need a sympathetic ear, a shoulder to cry  on or  just  needed someone  to make  you laugh! If  yes  feel free to talk it out  here  with us. We will all help if  we can.

If we were having Coffee: I would  remind  you  that  there  are lots of  other  coffee mornings  all shared  and organized  By  Diana  and  Gene’O  over at,Part time monster

If we were having coffee:  Well it has  been  a very  busy  week  again, tell me  please  where  has half of  this year  gone ??

Well  settle  down  with your  drinks  and cakes   and I  shall  tell you  about  the big  plan! What  I hear  you  asking?  Right  the hubby  has  suggested  we have a new  kitchen   and I  actually  agree! Even though it will mean a lot of upheaval  it  will be  worth it. So  far  we have  waded  through  the  catalogue  of  the  manufacter  that  we have chosen. We  have picked  the unit  and  narrowed  the colour  scheme  down to  three  colours ( Ivory, sage  or light blue) . We  have spent hours  choosing   which  white  goods  we  want   and  also  spent  ages  researching  cooker hoods.

My dream kitchen?

We  have  decided  to  have  the hob  on  a central  island   which means  the extracter  hood  will be  suspended  above  said  hob! Well I hae to apologise  for  all the  slips of  paper  with  drawings  on  and  the  catalogues  strewn  all over  the place !  move  them out  the way  and  make  yourselves  comfortable…. watch  this spot.

If we  were having Coffee :  My  gym buddy  and I  have  been working very hard  this  week  and  we have  signed up  for another  course of  extra  lessons  to see us  through  to the end  of  the year !

Home made

Can I refill your cup or  get you  a calorie  free  treat  we have some  gorgeous  cakes  this week.

If  we  were having  coffee: I would  draw  your  attantion  to  Paul’s  blog  this  week  it is  exstremely  thought  provoking,  do  read  it  believe me  you  will not  regret  it! If  we  were having  coffee: I tell  you  that  the garden is  doing  fine   but  I  have no photos  today  because   I just  have  not  had  time  to  take  any  this  week Hooray  I hear  you  all shouting!! … But  hey  I have  some  lovely  photos of  some of  my  flowers!

Female, wife, full time mother and Grandmother. I am not as happy go lucky as I used to be but I am still bubbling along on simmer! I have three handsome sons all grown and flown. The youngest married with a beautiful wife and two sons of his own. Eleven years ago I was working, running a home, driving and socializing then bang in a split second all that was gone. I had an accident at home. I broke my back, not for the first time, I had broken it 10 years previously as well. Unfortunately this time I had broken it really badly and it was truly messed up so I had to have two operations. I was told before each operation that the outcome could mean I spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair. Still as some guy once wrote "I am still standing " yes "better than I ever was " not quite but with the help of a walking stick and as long as I do not stand or sit in one position for too long, I am still standing! Update I no longer use the walking stick . I had lots of friends before the accident but when things like this happen, you loose most of them. Their lives move on and mine stood still and so they left me behind ...I know that is just the way life is but it hurt and always will. Then I looked around and saw those who were still there for me, these friends are the roses in my garden they need to be tended well. They are the diamonds in the dust, I will of been married 50yrs plus this year . Pain and boredom are my enemies now, I have to find different ways to approach life, use my pain befriend it almost...yer right , well that is what they tell me at the pain clinic ROFLMAO ...... if only I could! I have found an outlet for my fears, frustrations and night terrors . I have started writing poetry if that name can be applied to my writing. I hope I do not come over as a moaning winger. I hope I am past all that. I also hope that you might see how the poetry is moving from very dark through the grey and hopefully in to light ?? I need to update this a little here. I have worked very hard over the years since my accident, I go to the gym regularly, I have a Pilates class and a core class once a week . The guys at the gym and my Pilates teacher cajoled, teased, bullied and encouraged me to abandon my walking stick! :) My back is no longer straight it is C shaped because of the injury and I have lost two and a half inches in height but my Pilates and Core teachers have helped me to stand up as straight and as strongly as possible. Pain and depression are still hanging on my arm but I have weapons to use against them and if I say so myself I cope well. I have made lots of new friends, real diamonds. I am also very grateful for all the support and help I have encountered here on Wordpress. Hugs and welcome to everyone who visits.

  1. Great photos Willow. I googled your yellow flower and it is called Hypericum calycinum or Rose of Sharon or Aaron’s Beard. Very beautiful pictures Willow.

Amazing looking kitchen Willow. Renovations can be trying but the end result will be wonderful. Your choices are very attractive. You know I was watching a reno show the other day and they had put the cook top in the island as well. They had a ventilation system that raised out of the island when the cook top was in use. Then it retracted back out of sight when not in use. Wolf makes professional quality appliances in North America – here’s their version of what is known as a “downdraft ventilator” http://www.subzero-wolf.com/wolf/range-hood#/Downdrafts

    Happy Reno!

    1. Thanks for looking the flower up for me, I like Aaron’s Beard best! We looked at the wolf retracting hob lovely but a tad over the top … Still looking so watch this space! 😉

  2. OMG, have you not learned anything from my recent posts about household renovations? They. are. absolute. HELL!

But if your kitchen actually ends up looking like that, it will be well worth it. I’m loving my “new” house, despite the grief we went through for those couple of weeks.

    Good luck, Willow.

    1. I know, I should know better we have been there before and the memory lives on! Plus I have heeded your words but madness wins out. I am delighted to hear that all your travails were well and truly worth it?! 🙂

      1. Yes, truly worth every penny. We still have some things to do – like painting the new window frames and putting curtains up, but that’s minor.

  3. Willow, I wish you well with the kitchen. I’d love a new one but without the hassle.
    I think the yellow flower is Hypericum ~ that’s if it’s on a bush/shrub.

  4. WOW a new kitchen..a major decision………..and your yellow flower looks like the flower on a Hypericum shrub. I hope you had a happy visit with the Newbie!!!!!!
