Morning Glory
All day it has been threatening, creeping near
I could feel it, I could smell it, it was almost like a fear
A rustling in the trees a swooshing through the bushes
Closing in all day, crawling up on me through the rushes.
The morning started so well blue skies and sunshine
Wandering through the church yard the day look set to be fine.
Halfway through the afternoon all things began to change
Not like the morning creep and clinging nasty and strange!
Drip, drip, plop ,plop it is getting nearer the skies are dark
When they should be light. A rumbling sounds, hark!
It’s here, it’s here at last the clouds are bursting
I want to dance, hearing the ground rejoicing at it’s quenching.

Now don’t let it go to your head ! Your roses made me think of the poem and the rose in the rain was perfect so as it your post that gave me the inspiration I decided to dedicate it to you. I doubt I have the gravitas of your dad’s poems. 😉
