If we were having Coffee: Veg, flowers, friends, family

Afternoon Tea

Hello  everyone  welcome  to  the garden  we have a marquee  and  heaters, all the garden  furniture  has  been washed  and  I have put out cushions for your  comfort.

Well what  do  you  think  shall  we  chance  it . Now  as  always  we have  tea  and coffee  from all over  the world not to mention all our cakes  and muffins  and  as Paul  calls  them sweets! Every single  one  is  calorie  free! Plus of course  we now have spirits  and liquors  to warm the coldest of  you.

If we were having  Coffee: I would ask  you what  has been going on in your world this week, has  anything  deeply affected  you, have  you need a sympathetic ear, a shoulder to cry  on or  just  needed someone  to make  you laugh! If  yes  feel free to talk it out  here  with us. We will all help if  we can.

If we were having Coffee: I would  remind  you  that  there  are lots of  other  coffee mornings  all shared  and organized  By  Diana  and  Gene’O  over at,Part time monster

If  we were having coffee :  I would  say  it has  been  a busy  week  as I intimated  in  a poem earlier  this  week  we had a visit  from the  Newbie  and his Mum  and Dad ! That  was  very  special  to me  as there has been some bad  feelings  between us… I  am praying  that  that  is all the  by  the by  now . It is a case  of  softly  softly  as  the  the husband   and the daughter in law   are  both  strong  characters  and  neither  will back  down  ..my  son of  course  will back  his wife  as  the husband  backs  me   but I  just  want  things  to be normal. Yet  as I said  we got  a  visit  and it was lovely. The  Newbie  was full of  giggles  and his big  blue eyes  delighted me. He  crawled around  the  house  at  the speed of light  and walked  around  the furniture  my  poem here  tells  you better . So  that is  as  good as it  gets  ..softly softly  fingers  crossed.

If  we were having coffee : I would  like  to take  a second  her  to  wish  our  Guest Blogger Paul  a stress  free  move  (  well  as  stress free  as possible) and  wish  him  every comfort  and  happiness in his  new apartment.

HAPPY NEW HOME PAUL

If  we were having  coffee: I am  so pleased  to welcome  back  Jean  at Socialbridge she has  such a lovely  way  with  words  and camera . She  lives  near  the sea  and  swims in the sea  most  days. I  love  her  blog  and I am glad  she is  back.

Anyone for cake ?

If we were having  coffee: The  weather  has been  on the  whole  very  good  this week only  one  day  where it  rained  all day  but brightened up  in the late afternoon . I took advantage  of the late sunshine  and  took a walk  here are some  of  the love sights I  spotted!

A frame for th beans to grow up

The  garden produce is  growing  well, the  tomatoes  are  thriving and looking  good. The  beans  also  are  looking  good  and  the husband  has  built  a frame   for  them  to  grow up, the potatoes  too are  doing  well. Hopefully  we will have a  good crop.

If we  were having  coffee : I  would  have  to  say  I must  get on  now  because  I have  all the husbands  family  coming over  today  so  it will busy  for  the  next  couple of hours. So  please  do  stay  and  enjoy  yourselves. Eat, drink  and be merry, enjoy  the  the garden  and  do have  a  chat  with  Paul  and his guests. I  look  forward  to  see you  all back here  next  Sunday!

Paul your Barista

Welcome to Willow’s weekly coffee and tea garden. My name is Paul, I’ll be your barista today and I’m happy to be here once again. Please come into the garden and make yourself comfortable. Willow has put out the cushions on the chairs and set the table under the canopy so we can have a cuppa and chat. As usual, I’d be pleased to bring a pot of whatever beverage you prefer – we have a wide range of teas and coffees to satisfy our world-wide readership. Also available is a large selection of spirits for addition to your cuppa or in its place. We can relax amongst the flowers while we discuss the affairs of the week both personal and/or worldwide. How has your week been?

‘Astronaut’ BBQ Chicken

Well, on a personal front, my disability cheque came this week, so I got to stock up on groceries. I decided to pick up a hot BBQ whole cooked chicken. Here they package them in a hard plastic clamshell container that is black on the bottom half and clear on the top half. It looks like a small space helmet so I call them astronaut chickens. Normally they are a bit expensive for my budget but this store had big ones (1,5 kg, about 3 lbs) on sale after 3 pm for $7.49 , normally $10.99. The problem was that I was ready to check out at 2:30 pm and still had more shopping to do at another store nearby before my scheduled pickup by the handicap bus. I couldn’t wait the ½ hour to get the special price. So, I asked the check-out woman if I could get the cheaper price given I was handicapped and could not get a later transport. She got the manager who decided that he would authorize this. I must have looked sad that I might miss my chicken. Ha! He disappeared for about 5 minutes and returned with a sticky tag with the scannable special price on it. So, having saved $3.50 I escaped with my astronaut chicken, quite chuffed with myself.

On the home front, the manager has decided that today will be moving day. A crew is supposed to be here in a few hours to move my meager belongings to another larger, newer unit so they can tear this one apart to find and stop the leaks in the ceiling. My new unit will be permanent- and when I was checking it out the other day I realized it had one less step to get into the unit – 4 instead of 5 front steps. That may seem trivial but it lessens one small barrier and every little bit helps.

Another cuppa ? Perhaps a sweet? I was over on Insanitybytes2 web site last night and she had done a post against homosexual marriage. You  can read  here

I wrote a rather virulent response accusing Americans of being violent bullies (as a country). She has placed the comment into moderation so it is not visible to anyone but me. I may have been too aggressive but it really is what I think, so it is hard not to be honest. And yet I worry. I will likely be banned and I really enjoy her dialogue – most of the time I agree resoundingly with her observations. But not this time. I’m not sure why I was so aggressive in the response but it struck a sensitive point. Have any of you written a response that you worried about? What happened in the end?

Insanitybites

On that note, that’s about all we have room for this week, so it’s time to settle in with another cuppa and watch the fire. Sweets anyone? Please join me in thanking Willow for her invitation to tea. We are all honored that you dropped by today to visit. I hope you’ve enjoyed yourself and the conversation and please look around at Willow’s other posts while you’re here. Willow is over there serving her guests and chatting it up. Let’s go see how she is today. Have a great week. We look forward to seeing you back here for sweets and beverages of your choice again next week.

Stream Of Conciousness Saturday: Almost But Not Quite

Almost but not Quite

I almost  got it right

I almost  topped  the  bill tonight

Most times  no one notices me at all

Tonight I  shone  tonight  I made  the most  of all!

I almost jumped  the moon tonight

Swung from a star almost got it right

Most of  all I excelled , most of  all I flew

Almost caught  your eye, most  of  all I tried, true.

This  part  of  the Linda G Hill  Stream  of  Consciousness Saturday.

Linda  said : “Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “almost.”  Use it however you’d like. Have fun! Here  are  the  rules.

1. Your post must be a stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing, (typos can be fixed) and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. There will be a prompt every week. I will post the prompt here on my blog on Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” or “Begin with the word ‘The’.”

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments, for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read everyone’s! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later, or go to the previous week, by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find right below the “Like” button on my post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. Have fun!

Escape from Pain

The river calls

Tiredness  seeps  through  every pore  of me

One  foot in front of  the other, soul dragging  me  down

The  river  looks inviting  I crave  to be  free

The  water is  deep  and  cold  in the river  that  runs  through  this  town.

The  stars above in  the black  sky look down

I shiver  standing  here  wondering  will anyone  miss  me if I  drown

Darkness  washes  over  me  and  tears fill my  eyes

Memories flood in as  I  whisper  my goodbyes.

Free free at  last the  weight  of  the  world has been lifted  from me

Suddenly I  am warm, light draped in silken stars, at last I am free.

No longer  lost, burdened  or  scared I float  through  the stars

Free from tormentors, at rest, my skin no longer  bears it’s scars.

GOTH GIRL : ACROSTIC

Goth Girlgoth

Goaded  by  the others  for  your  style

Open mouthed  they  stare  at  you

Trends  don’t  touch  you, black  is  black  all the  while

Hold  on to  your  principles girl  and  smile.

Glitter’s  black in  your hair , people  stop, people stare

Ignore  them  just  go  your own  way

Raven is  as  raven  does about  the others  you don’t care.

Let  the haters have  their say, you  will show  them and have  your day.

You will have our day

Abandoned

They found  her curled up  in the suitcase, childlike.

Peaceful  and  gently  beautiful all the pain gone.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Abandoned Room With A Suitcase
She  waited, empty  lean  years , her  suitcase  packed.
He  promised  he’d  come  for her,  he promised  he’d come  back.
At first  she lived  a  normal  life  going about  the  everyday  things
Yet  she  waited  and  hoped  and spurned  love  and the  joy  it  could bring.
The  days  were  not  too bad  but  the nights  took  their  toll.
She  yearned  for him  and the need  grew after dark . It  ate  her  soul.
Suitors took the  walk  to her  door  but  none  of  them  got  past  the start
None  ever  matched up  to  him , the  man  who  had stolen  her  heart.
She  died  an  old  maid, aunt  and  friend  to  many
Dreams  and  promises  broken. The  man  did not keep  any.
Lovers  she  could  of had, remembered  her  with a  smile
The  room and  the  suitcase  stand  testament to  her  love all the while ……..
Acrostic: HELP ME
Help Me
Hopelessness  holding  me  down, my spirits  sinking  spiraling  round.
Ever near  the  cracks  of  doom  and I  am going down, underground.
Lonely  phantoms  running  skeletal fingers  through  my  messed up  hair
Pending  unhappy endings  awaiting  me, the  demons  are  coming , this  is  not  fair.
Miasma  curling,  swirling  round, screams of  anguish  the only  sound
Even the  moon desserts  me, in  the dark  I weep in  grief I  am bound!
