Did I work and care for all of them
Tending to their every need not
Realizing it was all
For naught. Since I cut that
Umbilical Knot
I was not on
Their minds
All for
Naught?

I love this poem! It’s hard to write a good poem using SOC, but this one is very meaningful.

I like the title, Nonet like sonnet. The empty nest. But I don’t think the cord is ever really cut. It is there forever.

Yes your right two of my boys are in their 40’s and one in his 30’s married with a baby and they are my babies. The nonet is a poem of 9 lines starting with the top line having 9 syllables decreasing to one syllable in the bottom line. Thank you for reading. ❤

Wow, good job on the nonet. Now I appreciate what a challenge that is to write. And they will always be your babies. 🙂
Mar 28, 2015 @ 18:42:41
Yes I know I shall always need to defend them even if they exasperate me sometimes! Do you have children!
Mar 28, 2015 @ 18:44:45
Yes, I have two grown up children. I am not a grandmother yet. 🙂
Mar 28, 2015 @ 18:57:05
It is a mixed blessing but I hope you can enjoy a grandchild one day! xx
