The Edge of emptiness.

The Red came from who knows where, no one remembered no one cared.

The sunsets suddenly began to last all day,the dying  rays would not fade away.

Days that never ended or began planets moved and clouds rolled in as solars flared.

Silently creeping up unseen, as unreal as a bad dream, red by night, red by day.

No one saw it coming , no one did a thing. The reddness kept a creeping under the city’s skin.

Filling up the sewers, creeping up the walls  filling  up the childrens lungs choking all and all.

Stripping off the ozone, burning skins and eyes, temperatures  kept rising, tempers growing thin.

Rushing out the city  gridlock starts  to grip, people started  fighting  road rage  becomes a brawl.

The rivers started boiling  and turning blood red , it was  the end of marine life all the fish were dead.

People had to stay inside, from the reddness they tried to hide. The power started failing all began to fry.

Why was nothing done to prevent this catastrophy? Because  no one listened to what the wise ones said.

If only  they had listened, if only  they had tried, it was all far too late now we are all going to die.

Looking out  my window the red is all I can see. The heat is searing, buckling  buildings is what I am hearing.

Everyone has gone now, some  went to the sea some to the poles, but  there is no point the end is here,

No one listened no one did anything to help we lost the earth long years ago.Now  the end is here.

Time is up and my paper is burning, all thats left is fear.

Yes it is sad and I fear it will happen if we do not take care of our lovely planet. Then I heard this old song ( beds are burning) by Midnight Oil this morning and the poem was born ! I the song is not truly fitting as it is really about giving the land back to the originals ( Aborigines) but they know the truth about our planet…. sorry I am rambling here!

Science fiction? Who is to say – especially when we know that planets do die off – and take their inhabitants with their death.

As another commenter said – Apocalyptic!

All we can do Eric is to keep making waves and doing our bit. I pray it is science fiction but I fear it maybe nearer to the truth than any of us would like. All we can do is pray to whichever God we worship ..
As to my state of mind thank you for your kind thoughts. I really appreciate your support. Xxxx

Cheery today what? I’m sure you are right – the end will come. The question is When? I’ve seen so many pedict the date of the end of the world that it gets boring after a while. We most likely will be the authors of our own demise, as a civilization. I’ll try my best to contribute as little to this end as I can and leave the rest up to a higher power.

Very visual presentation of apocalypse – oddly attractive while being horrific simultaneously.. Well done Willow.

Thanks Paul. I like the illustrations also as you say they are almost inviting they beckon to me. Mind I am a missog right now. But I do fear for the future of mankind we are such a lazy self seeking breed. xxxx

Hi Paul yes it is a world weary and oft repeated warning but sadly we are destroying our planet! I would like to think that the powers that be will come to their senses before it is too late. But they are so in love with money and power that they all have their heads up eachothers arses!
I like the the illustrations too , well of course I do why else would I use them. They are to inviting and beautiful but sad and danderous at once but hey that could just be my state of mind!! Keep smiling , I m not waving I am too busy swimming against the tide. 😉 xxxx
