FanFoFeb: Walking Home Daydreams

silence

silence

The  cars passed  me and there it was …. Silence, it grew.

I heard the birds singing, I looked up and saw the sky was blue.

I walked alone and watched the trees dance in the wind, free

This  could  be anywhere , anytime. I could be a younger or an older me.

Still no cars, the sun shines  but it is cold, February holds no heat

Then  I am twenty one again, warm sun, pushing a pram and I have bare feet.

The newborn sleeps in innocent bliss, my flame haired boy toddles beside me

He chatters away to  me in his own tongue, he knows what he says but it is still a mystery to me.

Looking up into  the sky  I see the unmistakable out line of the Kite his tell tale, tail diamond shape.

His rise and fall is a joy to behold , the wind lifts him  his wings spread wide like a vampire’s cape.

Still the silence lasts  and I hear my beating heart. I hear it boom, boom in my head

Down down swoops the kite, he has found his meal something good for him, something dead,

Just  as I get used to golden silence as it caresses me and relaxes me a car turns into the road

The warmth is gone, leather boots on on my feet. No babies here  only the Kite in the sky glowed.

The car passes me and  then another a steady stream now drowning out  my heart drowning out the silence

The Kite hovers again then he is gone. I walk alone, along the road to home traffic noise wiping out my  thoughts.
