EvDaDaDec: Little Mae and Polar Bear 30.12.13

Time  seemed suspended as  the small party  moved on

With their  eyes searching but not seeing , all landmarks gone.

The Queen though brave  felt dread in her heart

Not  knowing  if help would come in time , she had been uneasy from the start.

Mae rode Vlad, the Winter Queen’d most beloved Bear

He was strong , clever and fearless and of Mae  he would take care.

The cold was biting and the wind  froze  their breath

Though  all was covered  with snow , nothing could hide the smell of death.

The landscape barren, a forgotten frozen waste

Let  us hope that reinforcements come, and come with all haste.

As the travellers reach the end of the the valley  that they have been passing through

Mountains loom above them, there is no way round them, so to cross them is what, they will have to do.

Mae was struck  by horror this seemed an impossible task

But  the Winter Queen  assured her they could do this, but her fears were hardly masked!

Darkness was closing in  they could see it advancing  like a curtain of black

They stood there knowing the only way was forward , for there was no turning back.

Just when they felt that all was lost , a figure came towards them,as in a fairy tale!

It was the Winter’s brother who had been keeping watch for them in this ungodly gale.

Quickly  he shepherded them  back to  his battle camp.

With food and warmth  they thawed, relieved that for now they had ceased their tramp.

Ewen  was a noble man who loved his sister dear

As  soon as he received his sister’s call for help , his destiny was clear.

He had  and army  of a thousand  men, all of them good and true

But he knew he would need more as out of the Witch’s lair  thousands would spew.

Mae slept exhausted exactly where she had dropped

Ewen and his sister talked while keeping watch. Then with the dawn the snow stopped

The night passed quickly  and Mae was with her brother in her dreams

She suddenly  saw Polar Bear turn into the Witch of the East! Mae woke the whole camp with her terrified screams.
