Ground Zero

I stood upon that haunted ground

I felt the souls of the lost all around.

Their pain and thoughts brought grief to my minds fore

For all the hopes, and promise that was but is no more………………………..

WE MUST NOT FORGET THE LIVING.

I wrote these two poems 2 years ago but I am going to re post it again today. Remember the dead Yes but remember the living too!  and Death from the sky.

######################################################

They could of not of known when they woke up how they their day would pan out. They had no idea that their life would never be the same .Their world simple, no longer safe and with no doubt.

They all boarded the plane, the train, the bus the car some even walked. They all followed the pattern of life they could not know what was to be. They greeted the news vender, bought coffee met friends, talked.

Arriving at the airport, the fire station, the precinct building, the hospital or paramedic  station,  the office whatever or they waived them off before taking the kids to school, all for the last time ever.

They knew they were different they had planned this for months, they knew exactly what they wanted to do. They wanted to kill they were not like the others that morning. They were not like me or you.

2,752 souls

It all started out so ordinarily boring even nothing different or new God knows what was in their minds as in to the targets their captors  flew. The people at work taken unaware those in the street stood mesmerized as they watch the ball of flame from which the black smoke rose.

The fire crews , police and paramedics

were scramble and into action flew when the news came that there was another plane flying into the other tower, yes two!

Helicopters police and news crews where there trying to rescue a few but even if they could of reached the roof with all that smoke what could they do.

The day had been unremarkable when the air controllers watching over Washington’s  skies saw a plane on course for the Pentagon OH! God it happened in front of them death en route  before their very eyes.

184 souls

The people on the plane suffered the same as their fellow passengers in New York  not all of the souls on the ground perished thankfully some lived and walked. The dark and heat and the choking acrid smell must of been so terrifically shocking in fact it must of been like hell.

Who knows where the passengers on the fourth plane found the fortitude and the strength, with the crew they decided to fight back. They tried their very hardest to avert this evil hijack . They phoned friends and loved ones and told them all to be brave, then they all gave their lives for they wanted another city from an air crash to be saved

Both heros and hijackers all dead

They couldn’t of known what was before them when they all set forth on that morn . No one in the world would ever of thouht how a nations heart would be ripped and torn. We grieve for those on the aeroplanes we grieve for those on the ground we grieve for the keepsakes that were lost not all of them found.

Remember those souls today, carry your stories in your heart think of the innocents airborne and grounded their lives all blow apart .

Don’t forget as you think of them today the many, many heroes and heroines who found strength to help on that day. The police, firemen, paramedics who picked up illnesses  from the smoke debris and detritus that engulfed them , they could not get out of the way. The doctors and the nurses who worked like the others till they dropped on their feet and don’t forget the ordinary good souls who help they were minutes before passers by on the street.

So God Bless the Dead and their families we will never forget them, but spare a thought for your cities’ heroes and heroines some of them ill and suffering yet . God Bless the services of  Stonycreek  Township and Shanksville Pennsylvania  and Washington and New York. They all worked so hard and selflessly and that is what makes it so unfair, they, whilst working in the dust, metal spray and smoke clouds their lungs were damaged by the air.

So God Bless the living  make their suffering less, we will always remember you as you did your very best. And so to all the families I can not equate your loss , the secretaries and colleagues drinking buddies or the boss, it is the same for all of you let our thoughts and prayers help you carry on.

DEATH FROM THE SKY

Twin Towers

Two Towers stood by the water , they were tall and they were strong. People thought that they were safe and within their walls they would throng. Sadly though for all their beauty, people  were so wrong. Two thousand , seven hundred and fifty two souls perished on that September day. Two planes, death in the sky , homed in on the towers and all the souls on the planes knew  that they would also die.

They were not alone a plane headed into Washington and the Pentagon found. One hundred and eighty four perished there, smashed into the ground. There was even another plane on an evil errand  the good souls on that flight attacked their captors and brought them down in a field in Pennsylvania.  All souls lost their lives.

The killing has not stopped and will not for a long time yet for many are still suffering . The deadly dust that came from the towers frightful collapse was full of deadly things. So say say a prayer for those who died that day and remember those who still are suffering.

Let them and their families know that we shall not forget.

Busyness

Sapphic poetry, a style based on the verse of Greek poet Sappho.

The Sapphic verse is a verse made up of four line stanzas, the first three lines of 11 syllables each, the last of 5.

Buiness

Hurry and stress busy busy   business

Keyboards tapping , post its flapping mobiles ring

Office bike beats the trouble and strife pants down

Right now on the desk.

Early train she’s on it too perfume wafting

Electric blue coat next to you soft humming

Off at station rushing now macchiato

Want to drink it now.

Phones ring lifts ding deadlines come and go deals flow

Time ticks pens click, ham cheese and mayo to go

Nearly five coming back to life out of here

Tricky business here!

Monday challenge

Long distance love.

And still, around my wrist, I carry the key to your heart

My love untouched , unchanged  by the miles that keep us apart.

I reach out for you, do you reach out for me

So much  between us now , fields cliffs and sea.

This hunger in my soul is gorging me from the inside out

I can no longer bleed, or eat or cope I need you so, no doubt.

I see you in my mind’s eye,  I crave for you to be here

I reach out to you I feel that I could die. I need your touch, your kiss I need you near.

We are far apart, reaching out to you our skin does not touch skin

My heart is breaking , frozen and cold ice flows through my veins so thin.

Where are you now, my love are you still breathing

This need , this lust for you will not cease . It hurts, it hurts like grieving!

Experiences with NHS.

Quiet, just a little quiet would be heavenly. The noise is relentless
The incessant noise of the ward went on, and nighttime chatter and laughter of the nurses was defenseless.

Sleep, a forgotten dream, fear and panic my new friends. Stress and pain were all I knew.

Endless ward rounds. Cleaners doctors, nurses. So many ‘carers’ around but honestly no one gives a shit about you.

You have broken your back dear and quite badly too
But we are so clever and so we can fix you like new.

We will put you in a corset and Dr will be here to see you sometime.
He is a really talented surgeon he’ll put you back together, you will be just fine.

Are you not hungry dear, what’s that you say,

you can’t reach your dinner okay dear I’ll clear it away.

Have you washed dear Oh! only your face and hands.

Why not the rest of you, I don’t understand.

Right your in a corset and you cannot move,

Huh! I’d better wash you no doubt you’ll improve.

OMG! The nights are so long

And the noise of their natter goes on and on.

The old lady at the end of the ward has lost her mind

She keeps calling for her daughter who spends all day with her ..she’s kind.

The nurses are sick of her calling out

So they  have put a note at the end of her bed telling her where she is , does it help…I doubt.

I ring the bell because my stomach hurts it takes ages for someone to come

Thank goodness I have a catheter or my bed would be permanently wet.

I am left on the bedpan for half an hour or so, I cannot move, remember I am in a corset .

The lady next to me keeps crying  what can I do

She is braking her heart but she can’t  tell me why she is so blue.

Nobody talks to these poor lost souls all they need is the touch of a hand

A kind word or a gentle look , a little time to smile at them and make them feel grand.

Time drags for me , fear and pain haunt me so

And to make things worse my guts ache as to the toilet I just cannot go!

Nobody listens , nobody cares, as long as your drug chart is right

They are too busy  to listen , to help, or stop your pain when it grabs you late at night.

Am I exaggerating ? I do not know.  Am I exaggerating?  I do not think so

I know I was frightened and in pain, I know the old ladies made me weep , sad memories I know.

There is more I could tell  you but for now that’s enough

I don’t like these memories they are churning me up.

Something is missing from the NHS  today

The caring and kindness is drifting away.

I wanted to help they old ladies their sad cries echo in my head

I wanted to comfort and care for them but I was  unable to get up out of my bed.

Mother Love (Acrostic)

Mother love is selfless and deeper than the

Ocean, boundless and undemanding  always

There when you need it. No judgement or side taken

However far or expensive to pocket or heart. Love is

Everlasting, open handed  and without question.

Ready always to be sweep in and  scoop you up and love you.

Loyal and true always at the end of a phone

Open minded to your problems never judging or

Vengeful unless called to be on your behalf

Even though you may not deserve it , it’s there Mother Love.
