Dream Waif

She looks up and the stars who, on her,  look down

She wears not much more than a frozen frown.

She has walked all day  and walked all night

She thinks her soul is hers but her senses have taken flight

The night is dark and there is snow underfoot

Moving on is all she’s got. Her eyes open her brain is full of soot.

She no longer knows why she journeys  on

She is lost, alone  and all of her comfort is gone.

Where is she going where has she been

What are the horrors that she has seen.

Will she ever  get there will she ever arrive ,

I am afraid for this waif  how will she survive .

Will she escape from my dreams will she let me rest at night

I hope she can get free, brake her tethers  and fly as free as an escaped kite……….

“Moving on is all she’s got” What a wonderful line — the essence of motivation — the nature of the spirit which obstinately insists on motion when it is not a part of space or time.

The words of your poem flow beautifully with the expressions on the photos that you have chosen. Excellent selection of photos and beautiful poem. Take care my friend.

Great poetry, Willow. I also like the ‘moving on is all she’s got’. You’re just brilliant with the poems these days.

    And love the image.
