Don’t worry the child whispered to the tree.
I shall keep you safe , you’ll not be harmed if you stay with me.
The lightening flashed and the rain fell. Out to sea ships were tossed on the foamy swell.
It was such a dark and starless night the child could see that the tree was suffering from fright.
All around the the winds were shaking up the hills and whipping up the lakes and streams so that they were over flowing their banks and having little spills.
Thunder crashed and lightening lit the skies the child hugged tight the tree and closed her eyes.
Please dear friend, tree, she was heard to say. I shall not let go of you until this ghastly night is through, and this storm is gone away.
Of a sudden the tree was struck by lightening flash, it buckled and bowed and then to the ground it crashed. Sadly flattening beneath it’s weight the tiny child who lovingly had promised to keep it safe.
Darling , darling tree fear not fear not I am still with thee………..
