NaPoWriMo Day 17. Welcome Sun

NaPoWriMo  Day 17. Today’s prompt is to write a a welcome poem.

Welcome Sun

 Welcome to a brand new day

We watched you set and go away.

We mourned your loss as you went

Without your light we pray and repent.

Welcome, welcome brand new day

All our worries wash away.

Glorious light we rejoice to see.

Take our souls and set them free.

Dance to greet the brand new  day

The horrors of the night washed away.

All that seemed  wrong and out of true .

Is as it should be thanks to you.

You bring warmth and light for us to grow

We can work our land  and our seeds sow.

We grow under your loving gaze

Our land we work, our animals graze.

Neither we or our planet without you thrive

So each morning we welcome you and thank you for our lives.

 Welcome to a brand new day

We watched you set and go away.

We mourned your loss as you went

Without your light we pray and repent.

NaPoWriMo Day 16 Such a waste

Day 16 NaPoWriMo: Today’s prompt is to write a “translation” of a poem in a language you don’t actually know. Pick a poem and trying not to peek too much at the translation use the sound and shape of the words and lines to guide you, without worrying too much about whether your translation makes sense.

I had a strange and busy day yesterday so apologies for being late no only with my entries but answering my comments. Enough excuses here is my entry and it was hard!!

The Poem I chose was  : 1987, Gro Dahle
From: Audiens
Publisher: J.W. Cappelens Forlag, Oslo, 1987

Gro Dahle

Det er ikke alltid
like lett å være pave
sier paven
Han gjemmer seg under bordet
og roper hunden til seg
Der sitter han til det er mørkt
og alle har sluttet å lete
Når alt er stille
i Vatikanet
kryper han fram
fra under duken
og gir hunden
rent vann i skålen
Så spiser han bokstavskjeks
ved vinduet

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Such a waste
She liked flying
As unhappy on the pavement
As off the pavement.
Hands jammering  she blurs egdes
So ropes quickly slip
The sitters handle sharp her death
She was a slattern,  everyone  knew
Never stood still
Always casting her net
Kaleidoscope girl
Loud and drunken
Hungry for life
Duty dodging like a  slalom
Her life could fill a bookshop
To meet such sad End.
