DAY 2
Today’s prompt a poem about a lie.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He offered her the fruit all beautiful and red
“Look at the beauty here it will make you wise”, he said.
“It is from the tree of wisdom”, he smiled, ” beautiful and new”
She hesitated slightly for to take fruit from that tree was not allowed, and this she knew.
Hissing sweetly and gently nudging her arm
The handsome snake beguiled her, she was caught up in his charm.
“No one will ever notice and I shall never tell
Take it quickly while no one is looking you can share with man as well.”
“Are you sure we can eat this” the first man asked of her
“Of course we can” she lied the snake’s charm made her no longer care.
All she knew was that she wanted to taste the fruit because it was was forbidden.
The snake had said the taste was beyond compare and after a little coaxing the man did as he was bidden.
Just one bite each they took and at once they knew
This was no fantastical fruit. What the snake had said was untrue.
The sky went dark and lightening flashed both man and woman began to shiver
Fear hit them, a feeling they had never known.The snake wagged his tale as happily, off he began to sliver.
“Who has eaten of my tree” a loud and angry voice asked
“I told you, you could have anything but to not touch this tree, you had been tasked.”
Neither man nor woman wanted the blame so each quickly blamed the other
They suddenly felt their nakedness and so both ran for cover.
What happened next is well known it is the oldest tale of all
Snake, man or woman, who lied first? I think it was the snake who cause Eden’s fall.
Sorry, I should have actually commented on your work… re the oldest tale – indeed, indeed. Yet when you contemplate history, it seems it had to be, doesn’t it?? .. or not, I do not know.
