Deep love

http://jmcruse.wordpress.com/

Silently she stood there, riveted to the spot. Her eyes searched the floundering ship for sight of her man…. that sight there was not.  So near, so near and yet so far.

The wind was high and the waves dashed against the shore the clouds were heavy and lightening flashed across the sky. Her whole life was ebbing away right before her eyes and faintly on the wind she could her the survivors plaintiff cries.

She knew her man was there and he could not be saved it broke her heart to watch her beloved and crew as they sank to their grave. All day and all night she stood and watched the ship she refused to to leave the beach she wept and prayed to God, alas it did no good.

Ghostly she looked as she walked into the waves , her heavy dress dragged her down but she did not struggle she swam out to the wreck and joined her man and his men in their watery graves.

Praying for safe return.

http://bjws.blogspot.co.uk/

Sitting looking out to sea, the women on the rocks await the men’s return to safety.
To hearth and home, warm and comfy not lonely widows left alone.

Scanning the horizon watching and waiting to catch the first glimpse of the sails. Praying their men will return with lots of fish to tip the scales.

Everyone’s lives hanging by the thread those on land and those on  the seas each need the other alive not dead. Life was hard then, if the men failed to bring in the fish the family would perish.

The storms are coming in bringing fear in their wake . The women and the children strain to see if the the little fleet will safe harbour make. Prayers are offered up on the shore and on the boats for safe return and generous  hauls upon the boats.

The wind is strong it is blowing a gale the rain is lashing down but at last someone calls that they have seen a sail. Everyone runs down to the harbour to greet the fleet. All pray secretly that their man will be home safe , how they will hug them when they meet.
