The Parallel Olympics

Hooray for the Irish boy who runs as fast as the wind, hooray for the boy or girl from any country their difference makes then kin.

Tall or short, with limbs and some without, sighted or blind so brave without a doubt. To take a band and give your trust to someone else to lead you by the hand as you run or hurdle, you are all a special brand.

To swim with no arms or no legs or to be so small  like a child  but each time you win the crowd go wild.

To ride a bike so swift so fast when you can hardly stand such freedom you feel no more could you ask! To be one with your horse no matter how to trot and dance with music now.

Tennis and table tennis is your joy to play with one and a half arms amazes me oh! boy to see you win it makes my day.

Runners, jumpers some legs some blades they don’t worry about how they were made .

I can only stand in awe of all these champions who leap and run and  soar! Somehow they fight a physical ill and some with problems in their brains they all are not challenged  by these parallel games.

Basket ball netball in wheelchairs, and track racers that look like charioteers so brave  so fast they have no fear. Wheelchair rugby, football for the blind , no one one ever is left behind.

So many, many disciplines and styles I can’t hope to mention all  but I am so proud to be able to say  I shall be cheering you all on this Tuesday. Rowing ,there is so much more fencing , archery more and more!

Wonderful people from around the world fly proudly your flags under the great Parallel Olympics banner unfurled!

My little tribute, I hope it is not clumsy and I also hope it does not offend anyone  as I just wanted to praise them all, I shall be going to see the games on Thursday day.
