The story Sofa!

Here I am with open arms oblivious to all your charms. Here unmoving day and night I helped you learn to read and write

Here I am, the one you need, to get you through life’s challenges, I’m always up for a midnight feed!!

I am on hand for a cosy rest in front of the fire, sit with me in winter and  watch the snow fall as the flames grow higher.

I am here for you in spring sit with me and sip your tea and listen as the Thrush sings!

Early morning late at night I am here for your delight!!

I keep your secrets as you grow older and see your relationships get hot or colder. As you grow and become much bolder.

I am here for you when life becomes to hard to shoulder and encourage you as you climb up another gigantic life boulder!

You  may change my covers to suit the fashion to look good or cool  for swings from anger into passion. Never deserting always there the answer to exhaustions prayer.

I excel at family  gatherings  Christmas, Easter, Birthdays and especially Weddings. Usually I get tarted up when special visitors come to sup!

Always in need when there are babies, new, good for cuddles and sometimes a lot more too! I  will not say what  that’s about .I shall not disclose what you get up to when no one else is about.

Such comfort can found in my arms for weary heads with physical or mental qualms. I never nag or boss you. I am always here when your day is through. I have never done a nasty thing to you.

I’ve been with you good and bad shared your grief  when you’ve been sad.Seen you laugh  loud and free and kept the secrets you’ve given me.

Then one day comes a bolt out of the blue I am of no longer any use, you have found some one new! I am banished shoved aside not wanted even though I’ve comforted you whenever you’ve cried! Cast aside for versions new after all I have done for you!!

Now, how ungrateful can you be ! After all these years you abandon me??

OMG this is so choice. So duplicitous in message.
I am glad to say I have never set fire to a couch, or rolled it down a mountain, or hauled it in front of the council offices at midnight to become their problem
    – and I’ve not done that with a lover either!!

Willowdot, this was way imaginative. I loved it. I have to confess the greatest crime I have committed with a a couch “no longer up to standard” is I’ve dragged it in the middle of the night down the street & deposited it on someone else’s front lawn so it becomes just the council must get rid of – but not MY junk!

    This was just GREAT 🙂

Hi Noeleen thank you so much for dropping by , I am glad you liked the saga! I have been lucky enough to have been able to pass my sofas on to someone else while there was still some life left in them! I am pleased you got the other message of the poem too! I am trying hard to lighten my mood since doing the “Child Abuse Awareness Month” thank God that is behind me now!!
Yes I do feel sorry for the old sofa and that person who is always there come what may longing to be noticed then suddenly one day they are ousted by a newer better looking model!! sheesh! lets make sure we never become sofas!! Talking of sofas I have been round and sat on yours a couple of times but I am playing catch up !! Be good and happy both of you !! XX

Thanks, Willowdot (for responding). You know, outside our flats right now is an abandoned mattress. Mattresses are just as hard to get rid of. But the Council has to take them away. THEY TELL US NOT TO ABANDON OUR STUFF OUT ON THE NATURE STRIP, but in the dark we all do it!

Yes, very glad Child Abuse Month is over, & I welcome in the Couch Awareness Month 😉
        Sincere care to you Willowdot

This is very amusing and very true all at the same time, dear willowdot! And you had me on the point of tears when getting to the view of that old abandoned sofa in the weeds! (We just put ours out on the back porch for the dogs!). It is a very good thing none of my sofas have been able to talk!

I have a futon… wrapped the cover with an oriental scene
    I love it… (~_~)

Teach your futon well.Their sofa’s hell we slowly go by. And feed them on your dreams the one they picked, the one you’ll know by. ( I hope Crosby Stills and Nash will forgive me!!)

Ah, the lifetime of a sofa – brings back memories of the “davenport” (my mom called it then) when I was a child – that I grew up with. And then the old, used lumpy couch someone gave us when we were young newlyweds with no money… Love your words! Thanks for bringing them all back to me, Willow. 🙂
