Nightmare of the rebirth of the dead.

Dark and stormy full of dread on the grey waters  black of heart and dress of red. Sullen feeling filled her soul as the wind whipped up her dress and let fly her hair black as coal.

In the sky above her head weaved her Raven broad of wing and sharp of eye black and shiny against a grey unholy sky.

Waters broke about her feet, icy cold but to her sweet. She is the rebirth of the dead she is the one on which all darkness is fed. Slowly as the thunder clashed she turned to face me and an evil light in her eyes flashed.

Reaching out her hand to me she gently cooed that she had come to set me free. Relinquish all of you that is good give in to me relax, release I am here to set you free. No I screamed I will not bow to you, I am not such easy prey here I stand and here I shall stay do what ever you have come to do.

Angry now she motioned to her raven down, he swooped at speed. So fast was he and noisy too. His warning screech I did not heed in he came with talons long and beak razor sharp on my face to feed.

my eyes so bright

That was how I lost my sight, it was wrench from me that dark grey night . Still I was steadfast I stood my ground though her raven ripped at me and threw my flesh to the ground.I would not give into the dead I uttered every prayer I had ever said.

Finally in the cold light of dawn I found myself on the shore lost and forlorn. Pained and I could see no more.

Dark and stormy full of dread on the grey waters  black of heart and dress of red. Sullen feeling filled her soul as the wind whipped up her dress and let fly her hair black as coal.

What a chilling, powerful story, willowdot. What a nightmare. I especially like how you come back to the beginning lines at the end. In a true story, as opposed to a sketch, the main character changes in a significant way. The events of the story face the change. In this story that happens. This is chilling work.

Nightmares are the shadows in the corner while I lie awake wanting sleep but not wanting its’ frightening side effects. I do find that as nightmares evolve people and setting change along with the amount of fear being generated by the brain. This is the thing that foxes me why do we attack ourselves so? We control the brain , or so I used to think but more and more I believe the brain controls us! XX

Thank you Maryrose I believe we stand our ground in nightmares because we are fighting for lives, to wake up into the realm in which me spend most of our time. Thank you for your kind words, you matter too.xx

Very darkish in nature! Images are clear and it reminds of Lilith 0- the rebel or Kali- the godess of dead-side and destruction!

Yes it is very dark and it is based on The Morrigan, the Celtic Goddess of Death

and the Black Raven of Death and Rebirth so it seems these tales all intermingle the world over! xx

Very “dark”, reminding me of the demons of my childhood, bringing them back to life, if only for an instant.

Ohhh-chillbumps all over me after reading this one! Such a hugh amount of talent you reveal here–and such a worthy struggle you describe. Indeed, the siren witch and the raven do so often attack us in this life! Hope you continue with this saga–you have really got something going here!
