Ring a Ring a Roses

ring a ring a roses

Ring a ring a roses a pocket full of posies tisshu, tisshu we all fall down. Where are the grown ups where are they today? Away shooting each other leaving the little ones to play.

Where is your Mummy, where is your Dad? They are not here, and that makes us feel sad.

Why do you crouch down like that, near the floor. Dodging the bullets and rockets when we hear them roar.

Is this shocking is this wrong surely this is something we should not allow to go on. We speak from the warmth and safety of our home but ducking and hiding from war is all these children have known.

ring a ring a roses

Ring a ring a roses a pocket full of posies tisshu, tisshu we all fall down.Where are all the grown ups where are they today. Mummy is at work and Daddy is at war, far far away.

Why are you so wet has it rained today, we have been playing with the hose pipe. Have you water spare to play, there are children dying of thirst in the  world today.

Is this shocking is this wrong, surely this is something we should not allow to go on. Are these children happy what will they say when they get home will Mummy still be happy will Daddy still be away.

Ring a ring a roses and pocket full of posies tisshu, tisshu we all fall down.Where are all the grown ups where are they today.Sadly they are all connected fighting wars today.

The irony is stunning. The children are falling down in more than just play, and the families are going to ashes. A sad testament of injustice and turmoil. Thank you for sharing these thoughts!

I am so glad that you get the meaning, I just feel through the ages children have played this game and whether it has been plague, war, bullets, bereavement or separation they are all tied in together as we adults are too. Why is man so in human to his fellow man? When will the ring a ring a roses stop?….Never I guess! xxxxx

The ring or circle seems always to continue Willow. … So many old Rhymes have such a dark message form ages past.. yet we don’t seem to learn.. xPenx

Love this type of socially-conscious poetry. Good choice of nursery rhyme for both the unbroken circle concept and the consequences of the brtual actions of so many in this world.

Hello Edward I apologize for not answering your question before but I am unable to use my blog as often as I would like to right now. Right, I found the photo on google images I think I typed in children playing on empty street or children in war zone. It is a sad and evocative image isn’t it. Thank you for visiting I wish you all the best. 🙂
