I reach to the stars

I reach for the stars

I reach for the stars but they shrink from me.

I beg them stay so that I may see.

I stretch for the sun but it turns from me.

I beg and I plead but from me it still flees.

I entreat the moon  but when it sees me it wanes.

I strive for light but it is all in vain.

I ask the fire to give me some warmth I ask the candle to light my way  as with every thing else no is all they say.

I see nothing, my body is cold my wings weigh heavy why have I become a tortured soul.

Why have the stars and the moon deserted me , why will the sun not caress my body.

I have reach out my soul but I have met with denial ………. I must be as they see me  ugly and vile .

Future meets Past part five

Carmel's farwell

Both Carmel and I found it hard to believe that three years had past for her yet only three months  for me had past since I last took my leave.

Your child I asked excitement dancing in my brain, a boy she told me. I asked his name. Dante, what a beautiful name what does it mean I asked.Carmel smiled her eyes widened with joy as she whispered steadfast.

Reaching out she touched my tiny swelling belly and  asked if I was well I smiled and told her, yes, as far as I could tell. It was then I saw her pale face and red ringed eyes. What was wrong with my friend I felt concerned she took my hand and told me of a rival knight who taking their villages and land.

She took me to the battlements and showed me, way off on the horizon black smoking rising. Those are our villages you see.

I could see her brave and handsome husband leading his men towards what ever fate had in store for them. Suddenly like Carmel I felt the ice grip of a frozen hand tighten around my heart I recognized fear as my heart did a skip.

What is it Carmel enquired. I was now as pale as she was I told her I could feel her fea, like her I could feel the danger near. Come she said you look chilled, come and meet Dante he is just like his father and a loving child  as I could of willed.

Carmel

I was thrilled by the beauty of the castle was we wandered through the great halls and apartments such paints and tapestries, if we loose Carmel said all this will be plundered! She nearly wept at the thought, and my boy  they will banish me and take away my darling boy.

Dante portrait

We saw Dante’s portrait  before we entered his apartments a truly handsome child, but as we reached the door I saw a little angel playing on the floor.

He was up and running as soon as he saw Carmel, he was stopped in his tracks as he saw me with her as well. I could see in his eyes he was wondering who I was. I smiled at him he flashed a smile back I could clearly see him pondering!

Suddenly it grew cold and I could feel myself slipping away as if I was about to faint  then it was silent and dark. I awoke to fine I was back on my rampart. Pencil in hand and a lovely drawing of a mother and a small bo, I knew them to be Carmel and Dante.
