I shall not run I shall not hide I’ll face the void with my eyes open wide. I shall call up my warrior from within and hone my sword the battle to begin.

If I must make sense of what is my worth. I shall do it now I shall justify my time on earth.

Each time the void comes for me I make the mistake of either drowning or trying to flee. Why do I do this time after time  both paths are futile I end up broken, spent and feeling vile.

I shall not flinch this time. I will win I can answer to my failures  and each and every sin. I do not want to stand alone but stand I must. Be I only skin and bone.

I see the void approaching the bad things in my life swirling round, my lies and fears creep towards me on the ground. I start to shake terror grips my insides, I call up my inner warrior from whence she hides.

With flaming hair of my youth and body strong and straight  she takes on the terrors of my past, my missed opportunities and beats them back to hells gate.

From deep inside I find the strength , that others knew I owned, with sword in hand the void is now at length in front of me.

I see your disillusion I see your hopelessness I see your despair I am now face to face with you. I stand and look you in the eye I will not flee I will not fly. I see you and I know you are me but given time I can make something more of thee.

You always come up with such wonderful poetry. I know that I don’t always comment, but I would be commenting on every one and I know you would get tired of that. So please don’t think just becuase I don’t comment it is any less liked by me.

This is so positive! Really enjoyed! it skirts over and flirts with the dark in order to accentuate the light. Well composed!

Sometimes, you have to fight. And there’s nothing wrong with standing up for oneself. So stay strong, beautiful. xx

This complements your previous poem “What Was the Point” nicely. From struggle to empowerment! I like the last line about “making something more”. It’s a nice metaphor of the lessons we learn in life and how our mistakes make us stronger. Xx Lily

Thanks Lily it was because of the helpful things said by you all about “What was the point” That lead me to write this poem. I learned a lot, see it really is never too late to learn.xxxxxxxx
