HOPEFUL
Haven opened up it’s doors, turned on the taps so on the earth rain pours
Oh! not again is the plaintive cry that raises from the people in-between their sighs!
Please stop this rain before we float away we want to live another day.
Ever hopeful we have started building a boat, fingers crossed that it will float.
Forty days and forty nights this is wrong it can’t be right, no more please you have had your spite.
Unfortunately we are getting short of wood and a cessation of the wet stuff would be good
Lastly all our provisions have been washed away. Please could we have a sunny day?

I know that is true, but I also love the rain…life-giving water, filling up the valleys, feeding the plants…thank you though. I do know what you mean if it is the middle of winter….

I wrote this poem as an answer to a challenge on a page I contribute to Poetry Corner. I had never heard of Acrostic Poems before the idea is that the letters on the left hand side spell a word, and to make it interesting the word spelt had to be the title of the poem. Mine was HOPEFUL, so I wrote about too much rain , which we do have where I live at the moment. I threw in a few biblical asides ( Noah and the Arch) . I love the rain and the good that it does but oh! no so much all at once!!

Thank you so much , did you notice that it is an acrostic poem?
Jan 03, 2013 @ 20:30:27
Oh Willow, I don’t even know what an accoustic poem is. I’m so sorry. If you tell me, I’ll read it aloud & get a sense for that accousticness. I noticed it had rhythm…. (any points for that?!)

All the points you want;) An acrostic poem is one that if
xxxxxx I am hopeful that that makes sense.!
you read the first letter of each line it will make a word. The word being the title of the poem. My poem is named Hopeful, so the left hand letters at the start of each line spell HOPEFUL
